Before you start any journey, have the destination in mind first.
Sure the destination is always the goal for anyone embarking on any journey.
But the journey is sacred too.
We got to remember that the process is what makes it rewarding and fulfilling.
When we train for a marathon, we can’t think about the 26 miles right from the get-go.
We can’t fixate on how long and arduous those 26 miles will be.
Doubt will creep in: will I be able to make it? Will it hurt? Will people laugh at me?
On the contrary, you have to think small, make tiny incremental steps and pace yourself over the weeks.

Most importantly, we have to augment our mindset to ENJOY THE PROCESS.
Sure, there will be days of misery, days you don’t feel like putting on your shoes and days that you just want to go back to bed.
But if you learn to enjoy the process, even tiny bits of it, it will get better.
The mind can adapt to anything.
And I think this is the same for founders in their startup journey.
Have a strong goal but endure and enjoy the process, slowly but surely.
Walking around the booths and hearing the finalist pitch during demo day, it made me reflect just how beautiful the journey was.
Everyone was excited, the organizers were charged up and the whole venue was electric.

Gosh, really missed in-person event and the fun it brings.
Every startup has its own story.
Every struggle, every obstacle, every hardship and every success have a story behind it.
I am glad we could hear a piece of it in the pitches.
For some, the delivery of the pitches was second nature.
Precise, impactful and poignant.
For others, it took more practice and calming of the nerves, but it was stupendous too.
Thanks to Peter Browne, their dedicated pitch coach, their pitches were beautifully executed with clear ask and delivered with choice words.

And for Petronas and the corporate partners, it was heartening to know that they were so supportive and helpful throughout.
Support from large companies is always a plus and it provides a great foundation for the startups to leapfrog.
The stage was awesome, the emcees were spot-on and the demo day was eye-opening.
I just wished you had been there.
Huge shout out to the 25 startups that walked the journey with us and learnt so much in the process.

The craziest thing is that amongst these 25 startups, there are probably some soonicorns in the making.
It may take some time, but I see immense potential is many of the startups.
I am confident in the founders and their willingness to sacrifice for the journey.
That is why my next step is to see how I can invest and join them on their journey.
