Dogs still make people happy because of their cuteness and loving nature, whether they are real or just pictures. Since there are dogs everywhere, games with dog-related themes have started to arise. With a twist, you can always have a dog with you in DOGAMI, an augmented reality pet simulation.
DOGAMI is an NFT dog game where players take care of the pups. Use Tezos Wallet to break the fourth wall and take care of them to become the best fur parents. It’s playable on mobile and released in Q3 of 2022. It’s unlikely to be released for PC, Xbox, or PlayStation due to its requirement for mobility and AR capabilities.
It’s worth noting that an NFT dog costs roughly $200, so acquiring one is a big hurdle. Players with little financial resources have no choice but to look for a manager who will offer them a contract on a reward-share basis.
Dogami makes use of a dual-token system. The utility is $DOGA, and governance is $XTZ. I’ve seen a steady flow of transactions and consistency throughout the past few months, despite their drop in value. As a result, the NFT's value remains high.
Simply playing the game and raising your dog's level and bond will earn you money. This not only provides consistent revenue for those playing but also for managers who rent out their NFTs. There’s also the option of selling, which could result in a quick profit.
Remember the AR from Pokémon Go and blend it with Nintendogs gameplay. You’re tasked with training and nurturing a Dogami. Players need to raise a dog from puppy to adulthood. When your dog is a puppy, you’ll perform simple acts such as feeding, bathing, petting, playing, and running with it. When you gain enough experience and bond from completing quests, the puppy will mature and the gameplay will change dramatically. Ensuring that things won’t get stale.
In adulthood, it's time for the dog to get employment and rise up the ranks. These occupations include police, firefighters, farmers, astronauts, yoga practitioners, and skaters. Train it to compete in PvE and PvP minigames and boost its rating. The more skilled you raise your Dogami, the further they move up the career ladder resulting in more DOGA tokens you can receive each day.
The opportunity to mate one's Dogami with another player's Dogami is the last and most anticipated option for participants. Since there will only be one season where they can have relationships, the game inhibits population growth. Additionally, the mechanics are completely ludicrous because there is no way to predict who will receive newly born dogami, forcing players to compete through bidding. This only demonstrates the game's pay-to-win patterns.
Dogami is not your petaverse to go because the entry barrier is high, but other players will still buy and play the game despite this. Its gameplay is fairly solid and engaging, preventing people from playing for only a single cycle. Apart from that, the ecosystem exhibits stability, which is a positive sign. Maybe if they just got rid of its pay-to-win structure, people would be more eager to play this game but as of right now I’ll avoid it personally.
