Turn-based RPGs are underrated. They allow you to express yourself through both customization and role-playing, giving you the sensation of being a tactical genius. While there are those who enjoy turn-based RPGs, one thing cannot be denied: these games are usually solitary. Prometheus, with its dazzling fighting actions and design, may be able to break the norm.
Prometheus is a turn-based role-playing game with a focus on Eastern and Western god mythology. A God card NFT purchased from the marketplace will come with its own set of minted characters for the God's battle. Since gamers from all over the world are able to relate to their national mythologies, it garnered positive feedback upon its reveal. The release is slated for Q1 2023 and will be PC-compatible.
The crew is not doxxed, and it’s uncertain whether they will continue to work on the game at the time of this writing. Their outdated and not secured website makes it vulnerable to hackers. To be safe, I utilized a VPN on my old device.
Dual tokens are used throughout the game. $MGA for governance and $WP for utility. These are the two main components for transactions and rewards. The former is exclusive to leaderboard rewards. The value of $MGA has decreased from $5 to $0.034, indicating a poor ecosystem.
Earnings will be based on game completion and achievements; winning will result in $WP. Prometheus wants players to focus on improving and creating strong characters in order to gain higher rewards. This is similar to how character synthesizing is important in KyberDyne.
Akin to WonderHero, the gameplay involves moving characters to effectively damage enemies while engaging in tile-based combat. The main difference between them is that Prometheus has five, while WonderHero only has four. There are two phases to battle: pre-war preparation and in-game choices. Players before the war can choose between 1 and 5 fighting troops depending on their battle cards (some scenarios may require less than five combat units). Players must therefore research the requirements for each level before choosing combatants for various factions and generations.
Both PvE and PvP are available to players. The guild battle is the most exciting element of this to me; I have no idea how it will go but it will be incredible if there is a full-scale war. Additionally, Energy is used to stop gamers from overplaying. The cap is 15 and 1 is used per battle; it replenishes daily.
The game's duration due to decision time and slow animations is the only drawback. Each bout can last 5 to 10 minutes. However, the artwork and design for the mythological characters are quite impressive.
Prometheus appears to be no different from previous turn-based role-playing games like WonderHero and Brigandine. It’d be great if they included friendly matches and provided a fun co-op experience to keep things new. Updates about the website and game's progress ceased to no avail. Prometheus might draw gamers, but given its current state, it may not be able to provide the unique gaming experience it promised.
