In today's interconnected world, marked by rapid technological advancements and a relentless pursuit of social prestige, we often fall into the trap of viewing everything solely through the lens of our personal experiences and beliefs. While this focus on individual perception has been beneficial throughout history, stepping outside of ourselves and embracing others’ perspectives has the potential to transform our lives in profoundly positive ways. If you have a passing interest in fashion or music, it’s almost impossible to think of one without the other echoing in the background. They share a mutually enriching relationship, each influencing the other, creating a continuous loop of creativity and innovation. They are not just industries; they are expressions of identity, culture, and sometimes rebellion. Think of Madonna and her iconic cone bra—it wasn’t just a musical era but also a fashion trend. Today, names like Ye ( Kanye ), Drake, and Pharrell are synonymous with both music and fashion, with the latter even stepping into the role of Men’s Creative Director at Louis Vuitton. The mainstream acceptance of streetwear owes much to the hip-hop scene.
These two elements, music and fashion, are synonymous with each other, connected not by their obvious ties but by their essence. One manifests through words and melodies, the other through fabric and stitches. Nonetheless, despite this introduction (the relevance of which will become clear later), today’s focus is not on their relationship but on the future of music and the expression of artists. I aim to shed light on what needs to be done to ensure the embrace of music NFTs and to brighten the future of artists and the industry.
I understand many of my dear subscribers are already familiar with NFTs, but for those new to the digital realm, here’s a brief explanation. Consider a unique piece of art in a museum. You can photograph it, but does that mean you own the original? No. Similarly, an NFT is a one-of-a-kind digital asset representing anything from music to paintings to fashion. (What we see or know now is just the tip of the iceberg of what they can become.) You can "right-click save it" (take a picture of it), but you will not be the owner of the original piece.
The intersection of music and NFTs is akin to discovering a new musical note. It's groundbreaking. Artists are no longer limited to traditional monetization avenues thanks to NFTs. For far too long, labels and other platforms have profited from the work of artists. With this intersection, artists can now create, control, and capitalize on their art in a variety of ways.
NFTs lay the groundwork for a world in which artists are properly compensated for their efforts, and the relationship between artists and their fans is redefined. Consider we are an indie artist (a musician who produces and releases music independently, without the help of a major record label). We release a song as an NFT with just a few clicks. The NFT sells out, and we keep the entire earnings. Yet we decided that, together with the NFT, we will offer the buyers the chance to enjoy the following song early, access to a live event that we are organizing and financing with the money we have just earned, or any other experience you can think of. (While not required, as will be discussed, offering an experience can be a valuable addition in today’s world).
Can you see what NFTs have just done to not only us but also to the industry? They changed the economics of the music industry and redefined the relationship between us, the artists, and our fans. It is no longer about who has the most money, but about who makes better music, connects with people, and has the greatest (not biggest - you don't need thousands) community that will stand out. Human connection becomes the new currency.
Yet, no matter how lovely it sounds, revolutions do not happen overnight.
Nobody can deny that NFTs have the potential to reshape the cultural and artistic landscape. However, I believe that in today's world, a bridge must be built between the promise of freedom and its widespread acceptance. I truly believe we are in the midst of a digital renaissance, but more dialogue, education, and open-mindedness may be necessary to fully embrace and harness its potential.
Given the transformative potential of NFTs and the need for more discussion and open-mindedness, one might wonder why there is a demand for these things. I believe it’s primarily due to today’s streaming platforms. With a monthly subscription, people gain access to vast musical libraries on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, or Tidal. This raises the question, "Why would I pay X dollars for a single song when I can listen to myriad others for a smaller monthly fee?"
I believe the driving force behind this behavior is not just the buffet-style access to music or the convenience provided by streaming platforms, but a fundamental human trait: self-interest. For many, the act of listening to music is more about satisfying personal auditory desires than about supporting artists. It’s not necessarily intentional; it’s simply human nature. We often focus solely on maximizing our experiences while minimizing our costs, overlooking the nuances of artistic creations and the livelihoods that support them. We lose sight of the essence of the song and the craft and master who brought it to life.
Yet, within this self-interest lies a paradoxical desire for exclusivity. People crave unique experiences, items, and moments that set them apart. Limited editions, VIP passes, and backstage access have become symbols of social standing. People brag about meeting artists in person or participating in exclusive experiences. However, I believe this desire for exclusivity, especially in music, is more about connection, intimacy, and a deeper engagement with the art and artists than about social standing.
In this paradox of self-interest and the desire for exclusivity lies a golden opportunity for artists. They can tap into the "I want in on that" sentiment by combining their creations with exclusive experiences, such as meet-and-greets or BTS content. Imagine owning a song as an NFT that allows you to work on a remix with the artist! It could be a step into the world of music creation, potentially changing your journey. By intertwining tracks with various perks, they become more than just songs; they are experiences, memories, and connections, all wrapped up in a digital token.
Reflecting on the ECM trio that music offers us, it becomes clear that this shouldn’t be the way. I firmly believe that artists should focus solely on creating art, as each song is an experience, a memory, and a connection in itself.
Think about it.
Music is more than a series of notes and rhythms; it’s the pulse of our lives. It’s the lullabies of our infancy, the anthems of our rebellious years, and the ballads that narrate our deepest loves and heartbreaks. These melodies are threads woven throughout the tapestry of our existence, revealing the profound impact music has on our souls. Nonetheless, the hustle and bustle of modern life often lead us to overlook this impact. We consume music, yes, but do we truly appreciate it?
I believe that acknowledging the impact of music on our lives would tip the scales in favor of Music NFTs. It’s not just about owning a song; it’s about cherishing a piece of art that resonates with us and becomes a part of our identity. It’s about supporting artists in their passion, allowing them to enrich our souls with their craft, and returning to them the emotions, memories, and experiences they provide us.
With the freedom and control provided by NFTs, artists can push the boundaries of expression. They can create without constraints, experiment, connect, and redefine artistic expression, offering us even more impactful experiences compared to today’s music.
NFTs are not just digital assets; they are vessels of expression, allowing artists to share their stories in diverse and innovative ways. They enable those who add color to our lives to break free from traditional constraints and redefine the boundaries of artistic expression.
As awareness grows, a new pertinent question arises: “Why would I listen to music on a streaming platform when I can directly support the artist and be a part of something more than just a "listening" experience by paying a certain amount of dollars?”
In this era of evolution and adaptation, where culture and expression are ever-dynamic, reflecting the zeitgeist of the times, we must never lose sight of our inherent human essence—the ability to create, feel, and connect. This digital revolution is a canvas of unprecedented opportunities, and it is our brush to paint with, to leverage these opportunities in ways that enrich our collective soul.
Let us embrace the symphony of connection, expression, and innovation that NFTs provide, allowing us to truly listen, feel, and live the music, fostering a harmonious dance between creation and appreciation, artist and admirer. Let us build a new artistic renaissance in which every note resonates with the heartbeat of shared experiences and every melody paints the canvas of our souls with the vibrant colors of boundless expression.
Christian Xander Ariel ( CXA )

Christian Xander Ariel, the creative mind behind Luxury Absolute, a distinguished digital art gallery that epitomizes luxury and expression, has captured my attention and admiration.
Christian’s art is characterized by meticulous attention to detail and a unique aesthetic that not only conveys a message of luxury but also offers a glimpse into his world, allowing us to connect with both the artist and ourselves. It was through his creations that I discovered my affinity for this type of art. Each piece signed by Luxury Absolute elicits in me a feeling that goes beyond simple appreciation—it fosters a connection with my inner self, revealing aspects of myself that I wasn't previously aware of.
The underlying ethos of his art is reminiscent of street art and streetwear—a realm where creation is driven by the pure pursuit of art and expression. I have the impression that Christian is on the verge of launching a movement, aptly summarized by his words, "No algorithm. No gallery." It represents art made for the sake of art, resonating with the most genuine audience: the streets.
Christian is a favorite of mine not only because of his art but also because of the profound connection I feel with it. I encourage you to explore the world of Luxury Absolute and, perhaps, learn a little more about yourself in the process.
No algorithm. Not gallery. Just art.

Mavi, a musician and fashion enthusiast, caught my attention not only for her musical talent but also for her embodiment of the intricate dance between music and fashion, which I touched on earlier in this article. Mavi has seamlessly blended her love for thrifting and sustainable fashion with her musical journey through her brand, "Mavi Taylored." While I could delve into the details of this innovative brand, I encourage you to explore Mavi's vision in her own words, allowing for a more authentic connection and understanding of the passion fueling it.
Mavi exemplifies the symbiotic relationship between music and fashion in a truly remarkable way, weaving these art forms together to create products that transcend the boundaries of jackets or songs—they become experiences, memories, and connections. It's difficult to pick a favorite song of hers, but "Say It" and the tracks from her album "The Drive: Side B" are strong contenders. I'm wondering if you have a personal favorite.
Mavi's versatility is evident in her golden voice, which adapts to different styles, and her golden hand, which transforms simple garments into artistic statements. She is an artist to watch, possessing the potential to become an icon in the music world and beyond. Her star is clearly on the rise!
