The Weight of Yesterday🌹
If there is a thing always with us, it is the past. Every experience, emotion, triumph, and failure we experience weaves together to create the fabric of who we are today, in the present moment. It's natural to carry pieces of it. Sometimes it feels like a well-worn coat that grows more comfortable over time. But the question that has been on my mind for some time, and the one that prompted me to write this reflection, is: What happens when the coat becomes too heavy? When the weight of ...

Where We Meet🌹
There will come a time when we can no longer tell the difference between a human and an AI. Conversations will feel natural, emotions will be simulated flawlessly, and responses will be tailored to our deepest desires. AI will remember our preferences, quirks, and history better than most of our friends do. (Yes, I know this may sound crazy and hard to believe, but I genuinely think that moment will come.) And yet, something will always feel off. Something irreplaceable will be missing. That ...

Today, I want to reflect on an aspect of our lives that often feels like a burden, though I believe that with a shift in perspective, we might discover its enriching nature. It’s an element that every one of us possesses, one that we could never truly erase. This is something we often try to hide, fix, or even obsess over in the quiet corners of our minds. Society has conditioned us to see it as a flaw, whispering that to be loved, respected, and accepted, we must work tirelessly to scrub it ...

Consider the simple can, an everyday object that most people would throw away without a second thought, right? It is, indeed, a discarded object, a piece of trash, when placed in a garage. Imagine the transformation if the same can was placed within the hallways of a museum. It becomes a piece of art. This metaphor, articulated by the late Virgil Abloh, drastically transformed my perspective on life. Virgil shows the potential present in even the most ordinary item, awaiting the right circumstances to reveal its essence, with this analogy. This shift, driven only by a change in environment, offers a profound metaphor for the human experience, in my opinion.
I have the feeling that many people struggle with mistreatment throughout their lives, their essence obscured by the long, dark shadow of unkind judgments. Think about your own journey, for example, your professional context, where you've probably met harsh comments and unfair judgments. When I reflect on my own experiences ( and they go beyond just the professional context ), I see that such adversities fueled my self-doubt, leading to a swirl of questions—Am I doing something wrong? Am I a bad/silly/etc. person? These questions loomed until I came across Virgil's words, which struck a deep chord with me, giving light on the conflict between who I am and the environment that surrounds me. I recognized that I was the can that had been confined to the garage, unloved for my genuine essence.
Consider a whimsical T-shirt with vibrant shades and a quirky pattern. It might be dismissed as a childlike piece lacking refinement in the polished glass case of a high-end boutique. The exact same T-shirt, however, morphs into a gem when exhibited on a rustic wooden rack at a bohemian thrift shop, encompassing creativity and individuality.
The prior examples go beyond retail or “corporate” confines; they serve as a reflection, mirroring the enormous impact our surroundings have on perception and value. While the earlier illustrations provide an obvious example, the root of the matter applies to all aspects of our lives. We often find ourselves in environments that do not recognize or appreciate our true essence. Our potential fades away under improper conditions, much like a sunflower seed planted in the shade.
As we travel through life, we often focus our attention on outdoor explorations—chasing opportunities, building connections, and handling social norms. However, I believe that the deepest journey is one that leads within. It's a journey toward finding and embracing our true selves. This inner adventure is not a retreat, but rather a daring journey into the heart of our being, where the treasure trove of our unique traits awaits.
The beauty of this inward journey is that it behaves as a compass, guiding us to environments in which our unique shades don't just blend in but actually belong. Our worth is not just acknowledged but appreciated in surroundings that resonate with our core. After all, how can we know what environment is best for us if we are strangers to ourselves?
The pursuit of self-awareness is not merely a form of self-indulgence, but rather a necessary step toward matching our outward reality with our inner essence. It's all about finding a harmonious resonance between who we are and where we want to bloom. This harmony is the foundation of a delightful and true existence, allowing us to live forth our full potential without regrets.
As stated in the first lines of this piece, I believe mistreatment can serve as an early warning sign that our environment may not be a good fit for us. We frequently find ourselves shouldering the guilt, internalizing the harsh remarks of others. Yet, I strongly believe that the discord stems from the disharmony between us and our surroundings, rather than from our being.
We inhabit a world where cancel culture reigns supreme, a world that is quick to judge and label. In this venue, where societal norms often build hurdles to divergence and hate appears to trump understanding, embracing our genuine selves emerges as a radical kind of self-love and resistance. Embarking on this inner journey, despite its challenges and introspection, leads to a horizon where joyful living awaits.
The deeper we go into understanding and appreciating our true selves, the more effective we get at deflecting society's harsh judgments, creating inner peace and cheerful living despite all the noise.
As we travel along this path of self-discovery, self-understanding, and implicit environmental alignment, it's important to remember that discovering our "True North" is about finding that place in the universe where our authentic selves are the norm, not the exception. Our environment should be chosen with care, intent, and a deep love for the person we genuinely are. In the right environment, we may change from mere spectators to celebrated performers in the huge, beautiful tapestry of existence.
I too am on this journey. I have yet to find my home. The quest for my "True North" continues, yet the flame of discovery burns brighter than ever.
The thoughts expressed here arise from one facet of our modern life that I believe is critical. People are often faced with mistreatment to fit into environments thought of as acceptable or prestigious by societal norms, even if they do not reflect their true essence. We stay in these places for a variety of reasons, including social expectations, the need to please certain people, and the appeal of perceived status. But how often do we pause to consider whether these conditions enlighten or damper our essence?
Why not seek out places that ignite our souls and align with our true selves? My aim with this piece is to shift the question from "Why?" to "When?"—to inspire a proactive search for environments where we truly belong.
These thoughts are an outcome of my life's tapestry, albeit not vast, yet rich with lessons. The beauty of unique narratives is that your journey may echo or vary from mine. As you reflect on these words, consider your life's path and make decisions that align with your heart's genuine calling. I give my heartfelt wishes for a path filled with self-realization and fulfillment, whether you're on the verge of discovering or have already discovered your home.
Jadyn Violet
Jadyn...one of the most wonderful people I've met on my journey. It wasn't long ago that I saw a tweet mentioning Jadyn's music project, and because I was so impressed by it, I simply left a supportive comment. Jadyn responded, sent me a DM full of love, and then offered to assist me in my endeavors. And all because of a simple exchange of thoughts.
Aside from his fantastic music and work, a brief conversation with him allowed me to discover and understand how kind, wise, and empathic Jadyn truly is. Jadyn is without a doubt one of the people who has won not only my heart but also my lifetime support.
A wonderful person with a lot of potential and astounding music! Speaking of music... Raver Realm, his music NFT project, dropped on Monday, October 23rd. What I like best about Raver Realm is how it humanizes music. There are nine songs, and each one is represented by a different character. Isn't it awesome?
I invite you to follow Jadyn and visit his website to learn more about Raver Realm and his vision.

Iana van Aken is a digital fashion designer I've been following for a while, but it wasn't until recently that I decided to delve deeper into her world and truly discover the artist behind the art.
Iana is a self-taught fashion designer and digital artist who advocates for inclusion, creative freedom, and peace (all of which I believe are essential in today's society). It wasn't just my admiration for what a person can accomplish when they truly desire something or Iana's advocacy for values I believe in. Her spirit of innovation, discovery, and curiosity was what drew me to her. She has a strong desire to learn about and understand as many cultures as possible, which led to the moniker cosmopolite ("A person of many cultures"). In her digital works, she combines art and poetry. She enjoys taking everyday objects, both tangible and intangible, and using them in her creations to give them an entirely new significance. Isn't that what great artists and storytellers do?
Iana's story and vision, in my opinion, deserve to be known, and her creations must be closely watched. I have a feeling that her name will be heard more and more in the future that is being created.
I invite you to follow her on social media and explore her website to learn more about Iana and her incredible journey, creations, and character!
Thank you for reading!
Have a fantastic day!
