WTF is Web3? A quick start guide for musicians
I have never been more excited about anything as I am about the current state of web3. The sense of community, support, creative freedom and financial freedom that it is enabling among creatives is unparalleled to anything that has come before. It is an entirely new landscape, building new norms, new protocols, new values, bridging the gap between creators and consumers while slowly merging the two. This article aims to help those who are new to the space by providing a catalog of resources t...

Coasting ~ what's it worth?
In the 20 months since its release, Coasting has gained just over 3,000 streams on Spotify. This is around £10… and I really couldn’t care less. This song (and its accompanying video) is one of my most cherished works of art, I love it with all my heart and it was never created for any external purpose. Which is why I have chosen to decide the market value of this piece, not the audience. I have contemplated what would be my first release on Catalog since before my Sound genesis and there is ...

Most of you know me as a profile picture, some tweets and from my first mirror article. With my Sound Genesis this Wednesday, I thought I’d show you a bit more of who I am.
Growing up, I never thought I would pursue music for a living. Being a professional artist was reserved for the chosen ones, so I confirmed that path out of reach. I learnt the piano, the drums and even the saxophone as a kid but eventually I lost interest, despite my teachers praise. I’ve always expressed myself creatively, studying graphic design, film and media at A-Level (which lead me to directing and editing my own music videos) and I launched my own clothing brand.
After I left home at 18 to study Fashion, I bought a microphone and started recording my first songs on Audacity and FL Studio. During this year, I realised there was no other path that would fulfil my soul, so I graduated and moved to Manchester to get a degree in Electronic Music Production.
That was the single best decision of my life. I found my people, my purpose and developed my skills as a producer, engineer and songwriter. In 2021, I was chosen as a Rising Star for adidas’ Forum Studio, where I had the privilege of recording at Abbey Road Studios and subsequently released The Abbey Road Tapes. This was an unforgettable experience that solidified my belief in myself and confirmed that I was on the right path. Other personal highlights of my journey include working with slowthai, getting my first Boiler Room performance and raising £700 for War Child.
Which brings me here. I have a vision for my future that I believe web3 can help manifest. I don’t care about the number of streams my song gets, I care about the number of genuine human connections behind those streams, bringing people together and forming a collective spirit of harmony. I hope that by being as truthful and open as I can, I can inspire others to do the same, creating a chain reaction of positive energy.
Until next time, peace n luv.
