Narrow House is a museum “recreation” of Wurm’s childhood home, compressed and squashed into a sixth of its original width (1.1 meter only). Erwin Wurm is an Austrian artist and photographer. He was born in Graz in 1954 year. His creation “Narrow House” as the house of a narrow-minded, petit-bourgeois society with a conservative culture still living under the long shadow of the church, slow to eliminate the traces of the Nazis, who still live within it… a limited and limiting society of the Wurm’s childhood period. His house is just only a case in point.
