Hygeia is the Greek goddess of health, cleanliness, and sanitation. She is the daughter of Asclepius (Esclapian - more on this later, we are also doing something with daddy.), the god of medicine, and her name is the origin of the word "hygiene."
In ancient Greek mythology, Hygeia represented the preventive aspect of health—promoting wellness, purity, and balance—rather than curing illness. She was often depicted with a serpent (a symbol of healing) drinking from a bowl, which is a symbol still used in modern pharmacies and healthcare (the Bowl of Hygeia).
Invoking Hygeia reflects a deep alignment with:
Wellness over treatment
Clean, safe living
Holistic care—body, mind, and spirit
It’s a powerful and fitting name for a movement focused on safer, healthier hygiene products for women.
In Kenya, a potentially landmark legal battle is drawing national attention. Major global hygiene brands—well-known household names—are being challenged over claims that their products contain carcinogens and “forever chemicals.” These are substances linked to long-term health risks, including cancer. For many, these are shocking headlines. For me, it’s deeply personal—I lost a sister to cancer.
That painful experience has been my fuel for over two years. What started as a dream to build a holistic system for women has evolved through many stages—from the early concept of a care ecosystem to the Tabs4Pads initiative launched in 2024, and now, to Hygeia, a full-fledged technology platform and brand. With the support of a passionate and talented team—Joyce Kyalo and James Kodeck among them—we’re building something that will change the narrative for women across Africa and beyond.
Hygeia is more than a product line—it’s a movement. Built on three core pillars: Mind, Body, and Spirit, Hygeia is reimagining how hygiene care is delivered to women. We are focused on safety, affordability, and dignity, from adolescence through adulthood.
We are partnering with transparent and ethical manufacturers who provide toxin-free, thoroughly vetted hygiene products. But our mission doesn’t stop there. Hygeia leverages cutting-edge Web3 technologies to drive impact at scale.
Many people ask: “Why use blockchain for hygiene products?” The answer is simple—we want transparency, scalability, and financial inclusivity built into the foundation of our platform.
Here’s how Web3 powers our mission:
Tokenization for Access & Subsidy: We use tokens to subsidize product costs, enabling women—especially in underserved regions—to access premium hygiene products at reduced or no cost.
On-Chain Transparency: With product sourcing and supply data stored on Starknet, users can verify product quality, ingredients, and origin. No more guessing what’s inside.
Sponsorship & Community Engagement: Brands and individuals can sponsor pads and hygiene products via smart contracts. These automated, trustless systems ensure that support goes directly to the intended recipients.
Reward and Incentive Mechanisms: Women who engage with Hygeia’s wellness ecosystem—by attending education sessions, sharing stories, or helping others—can earn tokens that can be redeemed for products or services.
Decentralized Governance: Our future roadmap includes a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) where women will co-govern key decisions: from product selection to community initiatives.
Hygeia is proud to be launching soon on Starknet mainnet.
Starknet offers scalability without compromising on Ethereum-level security, allowing us to onboard thousands—eventually millions—without high gas fees.
The Cairo language enables advanced smart contract logic for complex health subsidies, identity shielding, and reward flows.
Starknet’s commitment to decentralization and open ecosystems matches our values of equity, trust, and access.
The community and foundation offer deep support for projects like ours—those solving real-world problems using cutting-edge tools.
Hygeia is more than pads, wipes, or tampons. It’s about:
Dignity for every girl and woman.
Justice in the face of corporate negligence.
Health as a right, not a privilege.
And systems of care that uplift entire communities.
We’re creating networks of education, distribution, and support. We’re building bridges between women, tech, and health—ensuring every woman, regardless of income or geography, can access what should be basic: safe, reliable hygiene products.
This is how we rewrite the African story—using technology not for speculation and wealth, but for impact.
As we prepare to launch on Starknet, we invite partners, developers, sponsors, and allies to join the movement. We’re not just deploying contracts—we’re building a future where technology serves humanity, and every product tells the truth.
Because every woman deserves more than just hygiene. She deserves Hygeia , every woman deserves a better life.
