Societe Generale is looking to acquire a cryptocurrency custodian or at least a strategic stake in one of them, CoinDesk reported, citing sources. Societe Generale issued a request for proposals (RFP) to find companies that could provide crypto key custody and trading services, the sources said. One of the sources said Societe Generale is particularly interested in two Swiss companies, crypto infrastructure startup Metaco and Swiss compliant digital asset house Taurus, which previously provided crypto custody technology to Spain's second-largest bank BBVA and the Swiss branch of Russia's Gazprom.
As previously reported by Chain News, Societe Generale - Forge, a subsidiary of Société Générale, presented a proposal at the MakerDAO Governance Forum this month on security-based token refinancing, accepting on-chain bond tokens as collateral for DAI stablecoin loans.
