Mintlayer and Salus Unleash Thunder Network: Revolutionizing Bitcoin Scalability
In a groundbreaking partnership, Mintlayer, a Layer-2 protocol linked to Bitcoin and decentralized finance (DeFi), and Salus, a Web3 security services platform, have joined forces to develop Thunder Network, a Layer-3 solution built on Bitcoin. This innovative network promises to transform the scalability, privacy, and transaction speed of Bitcoin, while maintaining its decentralized principles.
Thunder Network will enable the use of Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) capabilities in Bitcoin-connected applications, allowing developers to create decentralized applications (DApps) and leveraging the power of EVM. This integration will unlock new possibilities for developers and users, while maintaining the security and decentralization of Bitcoin.
The partnership marks a significant milestone in integrating Bitcoin with the blockchain ecosystem, incorporating L3 rollups with zero-knowledge (ZK) technology. Rollups are independent blockchains where users make transactions and send that data to Ethereum. This innovative approach will provide a fluid, high-performance, secure, and private user experience, while maintaining the decentralization principles of Bitcoin.
"We're thrilled to partner with Salus to unlock Bitcoin's full potential and drive the future of DeFi," said Enrico Rubboli, Mintlayer Founder. "Through integrating ZK, Thunder Network will enhance developers' transaction speed and privacy while providing powerful EVM capabilities to build applications on top of Bitcoin."
Salus, with its expertise in providing EVM ZK application solutions designed exclusively for Ethereum, brings a wealth of experience in zero-knowledge technology solutions. "The synergy between Salus' privacy-enhancing ZK solutions and Mintlayer's Bitcoin layer 2 scaling expertise will drive innovation and adoption in the Bitcoin space while maintaining security, privacy, and decentralization," said Shawn Chong, Salus COO.
The Layer 3 market has a market capitalization of $713 million and a 24-hour trading volume of $65.6 million. Notable L3 projects include Degen (Base), Xai, Orbs, Aavegotchi, and Dream Machine Token.
