What if your best tweets could help you earn and airdrops on another platform?
CT is saturated and full of noise (no thanks to InfoFi), but Farcaster presents a new battleground for creators to take advantage of.
I never thought that I’d care about @farcaster_xyz again, because it felt dead.
But the recent changes have brought life to it again, and I’m taking it more seriously now:
I created my Farcaster account in 2024, back when we had to pay $5 to get in.
Now, it’s free for anyone to join with an email address.
But I had barely any motivation to post for these reasons:
The airdrop channel was spammy
The timeline wasn’t showing me accounts that I enjoy reading or interacting with (there were a lot of GM posts)
No major figures from CT were active there
Vitalik hasn’t been especially active even though he likes it.
But that all changed when Farcaster shifted to attract a crypto native audience.
The 10% deposit bonus on $5k enticed many users (like me) to shift their funds over.
Warplets became a major catalyst that brought many users over to the platform (and got me to buy a Farcaster Pro subscription too).
The network effect has started with more of CT has moving over to Farcaster, with them reaching a DAU milestone:
And this is advantageous for any creator:
CT has become the main town centre for every conversation about crypto.
But we’ve seen how unstable the algo can be:
Bugs can affect our reach, and our followers are meaningless.
So instead of just relying on just one platform:
We diversify our reach by posting on multiple platforms.
I’m not doing anything extra and just repurposing my content from Twitter on Farcaster.
As a decentralised platform, Farcaster also lets us truly own our audience.
We can get suspended from Twitter for no reason, just like what happened to @sharbelxyz.
But Farcaster lets you own your followers, so even if you’re banned on one client, we still keep our social graph when moving to another platform.
And we have an edge if we own this:
I recently read through Nicolas Cole’s book (The Art and Business of Online Writing), and I found one part very relevant to what we’re facing now:
The lifecycle of social media platforms.

The earliest years are always the easiest to win, because there less supply (content) than the demand (users on the feed).
Our reach is higher before content gets saturated, so now is the perfect time to post more.
Nicolas outlined the phases of how a social media platform will evolve:
New website is invented, early audiences flock
Website or platform starts gaining traction, early users become influencers
Website or platform is established and begins a decade-long journey to profitability.
Advertising model is launched and user reach starts falling.
Business model is established, reach is throttled, and it’s time to find a new platform.
Farcaster is in Phase 2, and slowly moving to Phase 3 with this recent influx of users.
The algo will want to give more exposure to creators with high-quality posts that keep users engaged.
And the ones who have an advantage are those who built an audience elsewhere:
They have a recognisable brand and will easily become the top creators on Farcaster because of their reputation.
These creators have an existing library of content and can port the highest-performing posts over and get good results.
So if you have any existing audience and data points, take advantage of it and build out a new audience here.
But with CT coming over, the bad parts are here too:
With more of CT coming over, the same dopamine-fuelled content has appeared on my feed.
There will always be someone who wants to game the system and that creates a ton of noise.
But it’s a good exercise to identify all of these farmers and mute them from our feed.
Though it’s not possible to mute posts on the Base App.

But I’m hoping that more will be discouraged from farming because of this:
While CT has Ethos as a reputation score, Farcaster uses different signals to display your reputation on the network:
Neynar score
@neynarxyz uses different metrics to determine if you’re a high-quality user on Farcaster.
They won’t release the real criterion, but all we need is to act like a valuable human.

Give value to others instead of farming engagement, and we’ll do fine.
This score is available onchain, and will give us access to future opportunities:
Warplets used a score of > 0.7 as an eligibility criterion to mint an NFT, even if you didn’t have a Pro subscription.
Our Farcaster DNA (or social footprint) is also available onchain, so any project can use that as a criterion for airdrops.
Farcaster ID (FID)
This is harder to game because everyone is given a FID when they sign up.

The Arblet NFT used this for eligibility,
and other protocols could airdrop to you based on how early you were to the network.
Regardless, all of our contributions on Farcaster will be considered for the ‘main event’:
Everyone’s hyping up the Base airdrop to be the biggest ever, and I’m not relying on onchain factors alone.
Another part of my strategy is to build out my social footprint on social apps like Farcaster and Base App.
The reputation we’ve built will likely play a key role.
@baseapp uses Farcaster’s social graph, so I’m publishing my posts on this app and they get shown on Farcaster too.
It’s not enough to just own a Farcaster account:
We have to build a high-value one.
The top 2,000 Farcaster users received the Monad airdrop, and many more airdrops will do the same.
So instead of just focusing on CT, it’s worth repurposing content here, especially high-performing ones.
Reputation is now the most valuable asset to own, and I’m choosing to build it on Farcaster:
It’s a good place to reset from CT, as I’m tired of all the dopamine yapping and engagement farming.
And with Twitter’s algo being wonky over the past few weeks, it’s a sign for us to de-platform and start exploring new ones.
There are other decentralised social platforms (like Lens), but none are getting the same distribution as Farcaster yet.
More and more accounts are coming over, especially with hype from the Base app.
As Farcaster’s market share starts to increase (especially with constant improvements on the experience):
Our social footprint here will play a big role in other airdrops too.
The only thing that’s stopping me from using this more is that I can’t schedule posts with Typefully.
Who knows if an InfoFi platform will use Farcaster data to reward tokens.
There’s no need to yap or spam, and I’m focusing on creating content that resonates well with me instead.
To increase my reputation further on this platform, I plan to create a Mini App that’s useful for others.
Here’s my experience building one, even with no coding experience:
