I’ve been called a hypocrite for saying InfoFi is bad while still profiting from it.

So I want to clear the confusion once and for all:

Yapping is not just about shilling every project that has a leaderboard.

There’s a completely different (and boring) way to approach yapping, which I’m doing:

Yapping has a negative connotation, no thanks to Kaito and InfoFi.

When Kaito asked us to yap, they definitely didn’t mean these:

• Saying something for the sake of saying it for mindshare

It’s easy to spot the typical ‘InfoFi farmer’ or ‘Kaito yapper’:

All we need is to scroll down their profile and look at the type of posts they write:

Are they giving any value or just generating noise?

If their profile is all about Kaito projects, it’s an immediate mute for me.

I saw this Plato quote on @Pons_ETH’s profile:

Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools speak because they have to say something

And this is so applicable to InfoFi:

Many are being forced to say something about the project, just to stay on their leaderboard.

They make some random hype post to farm engagement and keyword stuff the different projects to ‘capture’ mindshare.

All while providing no value to the timeline.

• Bootlick projects and their team members

When a project announces a leaderboard, everyone starts being overly positive and only says ‘good’ things about the project and team.

They fear that saying anything critical could penalise their rankings, while positive things would boost them.

Anything that the team members post is regarded as scripture and everyone starts fawning over them.

There’s so much inauthentic behaviour when scrolling down the founders’ post.

It’s fine if you want to go down that route, but there’s a consequence:

I’ve muted an obscene number of accounts because they’ve turned into paid ad billboards.

• Those who yap for the sake of saying something, even when there’s nothing to say

• Those who are overly positive and would shill anything with a leaderboard

Some may think it’s fine because everyone is doing it.

But sooner or later, they will lose trust with their audience.

No one likes having ads shoved on their timeline everywhere.

How many times did you watch a full ad on YouTube without skipping?

Those who dopamine yap non-stop will get muted by those who are tired of the noise.

While they would continue farming engagement with their ‘friends’ in one big circle.

I’ve avoided this type of yapping because I know it’ll kill my brand.

So I’m doing this instead:

There’s more than just one way to yap.

Those who ask me if I’ve started yapping are missing the point, because I’ve been yapping all this time.

Just that it’s not what they’re used to.

I’m doing depth yapping, which involves 3 simple steps:

1. Do something cool onchain

2. Document what I did (what, how, and why)

3. Share the results (both results and failures)

The art of yapping is talking about a project that doesn’t sound like a paid shill.

And the best way I’ve found is to try the project and then share my authentic experience with my audience.

It’s a bonus when there’s a unique insight or something interesting I can share with them.

I find that the highest creator allocations come from projects that don’t have a public leaderboard:

We profit because we truly enjoy using the project, and we share our experiences online.

Too many accounts talk about projects they don’t touch, and it’s so easy to tell who these are:

Their content is surface-level and relies on hype for views.

Which usually just involves summarising the documentation.

Yes, they get more impressions than you, but they’re too busy shouting the loudest to gain views.

Views make money, but trust builds wealth.

Those who continue yapping non-stop will get tons of short-term wins as they cash out constantly.

While those who continue giving value will compound wealth.

There’s nothing to shill when you’ve actually interacted with the project and are sharing your experiences.

All it takes is talking to your former self and helping them to achieve a goal more quickly.

Everyone’s telling you to be a dopamine yapper and condense your content into dopamine hits.

But choose to reject the normal path and go with value instead.

We won’t get the fastest amount of money immediately.

But we’re building an algo-resistant brand that people actively search for, instead of waiting to be fed with your content.
