After over a year using the Samson Q2U, I decided to go deep in for a review since I am a podcaster over my show Leon La Grey Podcast. <---Podcast RSS Feed
Why this is great for someone that's starting out as a podcaster!
What I like about Samson's "Q2U" Model microphone is that it is very lightweight and you can take it with you on the go! The microphone comes with both XLR and a USB 6-foot cable. Both are great choices if you choose to stay stationary or, go out traveling. Whenever I do not have the audio interface with me, I'll take the mic, UBS cable, and laptop to record my shows if you haven't you want to report or create an episode that's your chance to get your audio recording out there!
Why I like the Q2U the most is the podcast/broadcast bundle that comes with everything you can think of! besides the microphone, it comes with alike a microphone clip and small tripod, pop filter, XLR cable, and a USB cable, which Samson did not leave anything out off the Podcast Pack.
but on the bottom of the microphone, you’ll find both an XLR output and a MicroUSB output — which is perfect for computer-based podcasters and producers. You’ll also find a headphone jack — so the microphone is essentially a super-basic 1-input and 1-output audio interface. Towards the bottom, you’ll also find a volume up and volume down button, while in the middle you’ll get an on and off switch.
The Samson Q2u microphone actually sounds quite good for spoken voice purposes. You may want to make use of the included pop filter to avoid wind noise, but in general, the microphone is nice and deep while still present enough in the high-end.
Spoken voices sound great for podcasters if you are plan to record guitars, bass, or other instruments. This dynamic microphone won't work for musical purposes, something more like a condenser microphone will be a better option.
The Q2U is very convenient and compact, Samson is the first microphone I've ever used and owned, and will continue to use it for the long term for future solo and group recordings over the net through discord with friends. 100% recommend the Q2U! 8.5 rating!
