There’s something elusive about trying to document your days. I figured I’d try to start. No expectations, nothing super intense. Just a couple of things that I found fascinating on a (maybe) daily basis.
How ‘The One’ Was Won: The Saga Behind What Could Have Been America’s Priciest Home
Love this kind of stuff. Guy builds a house with a bunch of other people’s money, equips it with jellyfish tanks and its own nightclubs, spends 10 years building it, continuing to double down on borrowing money and parlay all his other money into this project, then loses everything when it goes bankrupt and sells at a fire sale auction. Awesome stuff.
My buddy Geno sent me this twitter thread from a couple days ago and it is perfect. Statistical significance? Who cares, I’m not an analyst. I will fade Kyler Murray after COD gets released this year. Also, reading about his contract stuff and how quickly they walked that back? Man, would love to know who leaked that in the first place and why.

First things first, I love the Boston Bruins. LOVE em. They are the one sports weakness that I’m still unabashedly a pure fanatic of. It is actually kind of sad.
I know we’re probably going to resign Bergeron and Krejci, but the fact that our depth at Center is this bleak is appalling, shocking, atrocious. I cannot believe we’ve gotten to this point.

I like to do a little amateur analyst work here and there and this does not take a genius to look at. The centers on our team average .34 pts/game. That is awful. When you take our Charlie Coyle (who has significantly underachieved), the remaining centers average .22 pts/game. How is this possible that we are this short on depth and only have $4.7m cap space left. Blows my mind.
Lastly on this, because my blood pressure is rising, Montreal, Arizona, Seattle, Philly, and New Jersey had the worst records in the league last year. If you combine up all the centers on their rosters and take a look at points per game: .50.
Not saying we’re anywhere close to those teams, but the margin is razor thin for us to be in that conversation without Bergeron and Krejci coming back this year and some major upgrades in the years to come.
(notice how many times I said “we” or “us” in the above section. I officially have a problem.)
