Jesse token launch I’m a bit late with this post it’s already been a full day… But it was really interesting to watch everything unfold, so I want to share some thoughts and wishes.
The obvious pros: • The event became widely discussed and highly anticipated across the crypto community. • It brought even more organic attention, hype, and liquidity to my beloved
ecosystem • The launch happened directly inside the
literally a two-click process, making onboarding super easy for any Web2 user. • Jesse earned a solid amount of $$$ as a creator within minutes. This is a great push for more influencers to move to Base App, where monetizing an audience is much easier and it motivates creators to make even better content The token served as a good stress test for the Base blockchain lots to learn from for future launches.
What I’d put on the negative side: ⬩ Snipers grabbed a huge chunk of supply in the first seconds. Need some protection mechanisms (taxes/limits/proportional, etc.). Virtuals handled this way better imo (but I’m still kind of a tech noob) ⬩ Jesse forgot to post in the Base App right away and only announced it on X first ⬩ Network fees were unusually high for Base from $10 to $60 depending on how you bought the token ⬩ Farcaster, Zora, Basedbot all struggled during the first minutes of hype. Overall, I’d rate the launch as “satisfactory” things worked, but I’d love to see smoother performance and lower fees during moments this important And don’t forget: Jesse warned everyone in advance. He explained the risks. If you’re still trying to play this game manually in the era of machines and AI that’s on you, lol I even saw people managing to walk away with 1.5-2x manually on almost any entry. Personally, I just watched the whole performance from the sidelines. And honestly, given the current conditions, the launch turned out pretty good. A bit more refinement in the mechanics and it’ll be fire. Rappers drop birthday mixtapes… Creators can now drop birthday hype tokens like $JESSE.
