Where did it start? Seems to always start with frustration, right? For me, this was not with people, but with systems. For over a decade, I worked in accounting with businesses of all shapes and sizes. I saw amazing people who were passionate about what they built. But behind the scenes, they were constantly fighting against systems that were too complicated and did not protect them. Fraud, human error, outdated software, and processes that only made sense if you had an accounting degree.
Time after time, I saw small businesses get burned. Bookkeepers stealing from the company, accountants setting up fake employees, financial reports that were always questioned. What bothered me most was how normal this all became. Everyone expected small businesses to deal with it, to clean up the mess afterward and move on. But that never sat right with me. I kept wondering, why do we accept that small businesses, the backbone of every community, have to settle for broken tools and fragile trust?
That is why I started working on building Dallr. I wanted to create something that gave small business owners a real sense of protection and peace of mind. I did not want them losing sleep over their books or double-checking every line item that their accountant or bookkeeper or even family-friend put in. I wanted them to focus on what they love doing, while knowing that their books were safe, clear, and running smoothly behind the scenes.
I chose blockchain as the foundation for Dallr's general ledger system not because it was a way to make a quick dollar, but because they solve the exact problems I kept seeing. Blockchain gives every transaction a permanent record. It cannot be edited or deleted when someone decides to cover their tracks. Back that up with artificial intelligence that can watch your books in real time, catching problems as they happen instead of waiting until tax season or an audit to find out something went wrong. Together, they create a financial system that is built on trust and automation, something that is rare in small business accounting.
Where do I want to take Dallr from here? Right now, we are focused on building what we internally call V2 (we're a team of 2 essentially by the way). V2 will make Dallr a stable platform and bring some of the features that will start automating the process. This isn't the end of vision of Dallr, but just the beginning so that we can go find funding (or enough customers) to help us make Dallr into the product that we believe it can be.
How are we going to do it? By listening. Our first versionof Dallr, V1, launched this year and we started working with some local small businesses to see where we needed to improve. Turns out it was a lot! But that's expected out of essentially a beta. We are learning what works, what needs to change, and where we can simplify even more. We are raising funds and building a team who believes in the mission as much as I do. And we are focused on creating something lasting, not just another tech startup chasing trends.
Dallr is still in its early chapters. But at its core, the vision is simple. Small businesses deserve better. They deserve accounting tools that protect them and free them. They deserve clarity, transparency, and peace of mind.
That is why we are here. To build something new. Something better.
