Authenticity is the buzzword in today’s corporate world.
What is authenticity? What is the meaning of bringing your “authentic self” to work.
Succinctly, it is to bring your “true identity” to a professional setting; something that most would tend to avoid by creating a “work identity or work self”.
Being authentic is also the ability to share your values, your emotions and your vulnerabilities; keys to building lasting working relationships.
Whilst these are essentials in real world working environments, it is as important to create an online digital identity that reflects these characteristics.
Your online digital identity is your online personal branding and it matters to inform the corporate world on questions such as;
What do you stand for?
What motivates and inspires you?
What is your purpose?
What are your priorities?
What is important to you?
At the moment, our ability to be authentic in Web 2.0 is limited by the functionality of the social media platform that we engage in and the limitations associated with them.
Our authenticity is regulated by an algorithm, an artificial intelligence which determines our identity through our behaviors on the platform i.e. from our posts, from our likes and from our views.
Compounded by the intention of getting our messages out, or to enable virality, we are not able to be authentic in all our engagements with these platforms.
This is however changing with the nascent Web 3.0: the blockchain technology which brings us the NFT and Metaverse.
Your digital identity today is determined by your online behavior on the web.
Your behaviours are tracked by all the major social media platforms where you consume, share and transact information, indulge in entertainment or engage in e-commerce activities.
In short, you have no control on your digital identity as these are defined by these mega platforms which continue to find ways to analyze your online behaviors with little regard to who you truly are.
However, the next iteration of Digital Identity is an open, decentralized system where you will be able to link your digital identity to your real-world identity.
David Chalmers, Professor of Philosophy and Neural Science at New York University, who authored the book, “Reality+”, ventured further to postulate that in time to come, *“*Virtual Reality is Genuine Reality”.
In his book, he speculated that one day, we will be able to upload our brain: transferring our minds from a biological brain into a digital computer, rendering a “simulated brain”.
And for this to be feasible, we must overcome three major obstacles:
Intelligence : will the upload behave like us
Consciousness : will the upload be conscious? And last but not least
Identity: Will the upload be me?
Whilst the prospect of such an upload is distant, all three criteria are now feasible with the nascent Web 3.0 albeit not with a simulated brain.
We are now able to extend and have full control of our intelligence, consciousness and above all identity in the blockchain.
It is this author’s opinion that identity is the most important characteristic of our internet persona but is also the most vulnerable in our Web 2.0 environment. Our identity is constantly under threat from hacking, theft and misrepresentation.
That is however changing with the introduction of the brave new world of internet that is founded on decentralized blockchain technology.
At this point of writing, there are 3 measures that one can take to protect and to express an authentic online identity. They are;
1. Procuring a Web3 Username such as the Ethereum Name Service (ENS)
The concept of ENS is not something new to us. As a user of the internet, we interact daily with its soon to be predecessor the DNS: Domain Name Service.
DNS has allowed numerical and complex IP addresses to be translated into recognizable and memorable names, giving it a unique identity and branding.
The service provided by DNS enabled a whole new slew of internet services which jumpstarted some of the Big Tech that we know of today, such as Google. Instead of typing a string of numerical code to search for an internet page, we are able to do so by entering simple Latin alphabets into a Google search bar.
ENS offers the same convenience and unique identity.
2. IdeNFTy: Transforming your online digital identity into a digital asset with NFT
NFT created a new opportunity for us to transform our digital identity, which in essence our online personal branding into a digital asset, a new asset class.
We are now able to define ownership of our biggest asset in the internet, which in essence is our intellectual property, especially our representation in the digital world of who we are, our ideas and our achievements.
In other words, your resume or curriculum vitae is now an asset which has an appreciative value as your career progresses.
Your NFT will continue to gain value as your career progresses.
Why IdeNFTy?
If content is king in Web 2.0, community will be the key in Web 3.0
With NFT, you can be part of a community which shares your values and your purpose.
IdeNFTy, an NFT by Corporate Disruptors Forum, qualifies our professional colleagues in identifying innovation as the agent of change in shaping a sustainable future for the society and organizations.
By minting a NFT with IdeNFTy, you will be part of a community that believes in human ingenuity, coming together to chart alternative sustainable directions for a disruptive business environment.

In conclusion, some of the reasons that would compel you to acquire IdeNFTy are;
Authentic records: built on the Blockchain technology, NFT provides digital proof of ownership and authenticity of your records. Your profile will never be copied and pasted, or risked being misrepresented by scammers and fraudsters.
Defining Your Personal Branding: Curate a digital asset which showcase your values, your passion and your purpose.
Immerse into the Metaverse: In the fast developing Metaverse, NFT are the digital assets that provide utility to the world. For e.g. virtual lands in metaverse are NFTs. Your digital NFT may be the beginning of your Metaverse identity.
Own a digital asset that can grow in value over time. We believe that the work you do, the passion that you pursue, the career that you built will have a direct impact on the value of your NFT overtime.
Own your own NFT Avatar, a digital portrait of yourself. Part of what we do is the creation of a digital art that best represents you, which you can own unlike a picture that can be copy and pasted from any of the social media platforms today.
Be part of the Corporate Disruptors Forum Community whereby you are counted among your peers in the forefront of innovation specifically corporate innovation.
3. Managing NFT Avatars in the Metaverse
The Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT Avatar is one the most defining NFT that has captured the imagination of the NFT collectibles.
It is also one of the most successful NFT avatars, with a single Bored Ape selling at an average of 110 ETH or US$ 319,947 in February 2022.
These Bored Apes are algorithmically generated from 170 possible traits to give each Bored Ape unique identifiable traits, which in return gives the owner an identity and membership to the Bored Ape Yacht Club community.
Minted to be of just 10,000, it is also exclusive in nature with perks that can be gained only with the identity associated with the ape.
These are essential ingredients to one being recognized as part of an elite and committed member of the community.
And now the need for this recognition is accentuated by the growth of the Metaverse.
Azuki, an anime inspired NFT collection gives its owners access to “The Garden Metaverse” where the Azuki NFT avatars become their owners’ identity to interact with the community.
This is a growing trend as we will see more metaverses with its own unique value proposition that will attract a community which shares its values. These avatars will be an extension of ourselves in the metaverse.
Finally, if the proof of the pudding is eating it, Azuki NFT Avatar collection has dethroned Bored Ape Yacht Club by selling US$ 148 million from its collection.
As of the time of publishing this document, WorldWideWeb Consortium (W3C) has proposed the adoption of Decentralized Identifiers (DID) , a new type of unambiguous identifier that can be used to identify any subject.
The major difference between DID and IdeNFTy is that IdeNFTY is aimed to be a digital asset, a collectible while DID is a new tool to empower online identity.
Lastly, the potential of owning a digital identity NFT is enormous as it is a digital asset that could grow with your presence in the web, especially web3.0. This is pivotal to corporate executives who are building a personal brand; an essential component in their career development.
