My thoughts and comments on some of this weeks Crypto & Web3 News and Happenings!
Thanks to the DeFi Edge for sharing this dashboard showing developer across different blockchains. Developer Activity is a useful metric for determining how popular and used different blockchains are.
Meta is expanding Instagram NFT support to more than 100 countries. Probably nothing. At the bottom of the article is news about additional wallet support “for Coinbase Wallet and Dapper, which join third-party wallets including Rainbow, MetaMask and Trust Wallet”. This is just as important if you ask me. More wallets equals more accessibility to more users and more competition for wallet providers to continue to build features, functionality and user experience improvements.
The Bankless Africa newsletter (and podcast) continues to deliver the goods on real world use cases of blockchain beyond just buying/selling/trading cryptocurrencies
Binance launches a Crypto Education Hub in Cameroon. More of this please!
Ethiopia has moved from banning Crypto to regulating it. I continue to be incredibly bullish on all things Crypto going on in Africa. Furthering this point, approximately 16.5% of worldwide Crypto owners are in Africa.
Bankless Academy partnered with HumanDAO to create an educational platform. Bullish on education!
Li Jin wrote a good piece on fans being the new creators and how those lines are blurring. These kind of things are what Web3 is all about for me.
Coinbase wrote a good article on the Web3 Developer Stack.
Ticketmaster will now let event organizers issue NFTs tied to tickets on the Flow blockchain. More real world use cases for blockchain technology!
Ledger Nano X and Nano S Plus Available in Best Buy stores nationwide. I don’t think self custodial wallets are for everyone, but for those who want them having them be accessible in a place where you can just walk up and purchase one is definitely nice.
Robinhood (yes, that Robinhood) launches deposits and withdrawals of MATIC on the Polygon network directly, without any need to use a bridge. If you’ve read this far in this article alone, you know anything that allows Crypto of any kind to be more accessible is a good thing in my book.
