Siphox Health Review
If you've been following along for a bit, you might remember that January is one of the months that I always do bloodwork to track the impact of the various health related experiments I do over the year. This month, in addition to my normal work done by InsideTracker, I also tested out a new system from Siphox Health. Read on for my Siphox Health Review and to see how it compares to using InsideTracker. Why Siphox? So why did I decide to give Siphox a try? If you've read my review of...

Growing Oyster Mushrooms with Hardwood Fuel Pellets
Most people who grow oyster mushrooms do so on a straw based substrate. This always seemed odd to me. Oyster mushrooms naturally grow on hard woods. In addition to this, making straw reasonably sterile for growing purposes is really annoying. I was surprised that there weren't more instructionals on using hardwood fuel pellets for growing oyster mushrooms. With the advent of pellet stoves and pellet grills, the availability of a wide variety of hardwoods in this format has grown exponent...
Building a Backyard Food Forest
I've written before about my desire to turn my backyard into a food forest using edible landscaping. I've always imagined a lush, thriving garden that requires minimal effort yet provides a bounty of products—all while resembling a natural forest ecosystem. My process of building a backyard food forest started after encountering the concept of permaculture. Rooted in ecological principles, permaculture is a holistic approach to creating sustainable systems that mimic nature’s patter...

The right accessories make the workspace. The right workspace makes you more productive. I started my quest to create the perfect work area when I finally caved and bought a standing desk. I’ve been iterating ever since. After evaluating tons of accessories, those from one company tend to stand out above others. Read on for reviews of my favorite FluidStance products.
I don’t really remember how I first found out about FluidStance. Somehow I came across their original product… the Level Balance Board. The fact that FluidStance was a family owned business that manufactured their products in the US immediately appealed to me.
My discovery of the FluidStance Level coincided with looking for ways to force more movement while at my standing desk. I discovered the Level fairly early on and thought it looked interesting, but couldn’t find any reviews. The lack of reviews made me hesitant, but I researched the company and liked what I saw. Eventually, I decided to give the balance board a shot. I was blown away by how great it looked from the moment I opened the box! The website claims about its craftsmanship were also spot on.
After the first day of use, my legs were burning. It definitely kicked up the amount of effort I expended at my desk! Over time, I began to alternate time standing with periods on the FluidStance Level. This is by far, my favorite FluidStance product. I joined the FluidStance affiliate program after using the product for a few months because everyone who saw it in my office just had to try it out and eventually purchase one for themselves.
Over time, I got acclimated to using the balance board and could spend most of my working day on it. About a year after I purchased the Level, FluidStance contacted me about testing a prototype for a new product that they created. This prototype ultimately became the FluidStance Challenge Cap. The Challenge Cap is an add-on to the balance board designed to give you more of a workout. It modifies your balance point to force your body to do more to remain balanced on the board.
Eventually, I upgraded to a much larger monitor. Slowly, I started losing valuable space on my desktop. I needed to start moving things in 3 dimensions and decided that having the ability to slide my keyboard under my monitor when I wasn’t using it would be useful. I purchased the FluidStance Raise™ Monitor Stand.
The version of the Raise™ that I own evokes the Level. It’s made of both bamboo and metal unlike the current all metal version. The current version has many new accessories that the original that I’m using cannot support. It makes sense that the product evolved in this way as I ended up 3D printing similar versions to these accessories for mine.
A good workspace needs to make jotting down notes easy. I’ve always had tons of whiteboard space for this. My next FluidStance purchase was the Slope™ Desk Whiteboard. This product has evolved and my review is specifically for the first generation. Once again, I was an early purchaser of this device.
This desk whiteboard fits perfectly under the FluidStance monitor stand. My only complaint about the version that I have is that it’s not quite high enough to allow my mechanical keyboard to slide underneath it. My older non-mechanical keyboard fit under the Slope™ just fine. I’m curious if the latest version would accommodate sliding my keyboard underneath, but lifting up the one I’m using to put my keyboard under hasn’t been a major detractor.
It’s great to see the FluidStance products evolving. I mentioned how I’ve used them as the basis for further extensions that I’ve created. One of my favorite things to do with the Level these days is to put a grounding mat on top. This is fantastic if you like to work in your bare feet like I do. I’ll often add my acupressure mat on top as well.
Have you used any FluidStance products? Do you have other products that you swear by for creating the ultimate workspace? Let us know in the comments!
