Purpose Struggle
Yesterday, I decided that my blogging career should come to an end. I was doing myself a disservice. I told myself that the goal of the posts was to dig deeper, peel back the layers, get down to the core. But by publishing online (or on-chain as the case may be), I was subconsciously writing for others, even if I told myself that I didn't care if others read. So, in an effort to be more authentic, I figured I'd stop publishing and start doing a private journal. Within 2 hours of that decision...

Value. Happiness.
I feel happy. It's fun, it's light, like a feather floating at the beginning of Forrest Gump. But, like the feather, it's not grounded. It can flitter and float away. Value is also ephemeral. We know it when we see it. We feel it, somewhere deep inside. Something connects to us, saying "yes, this is worth it." The "it" that it's worth is energy. Energy in the form of time, attention, money. The things of which our possession is limited. There's a reason why all the great traditions point to "...

Coffee with AI
Every day for the past month, I’ve had a coffee date with AI. I literally sit down, with a cup of coffee, with an appointment on my calendar that says “coffee with AI”. During that time, AI (I’ve used ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, and Venice) and I literally have a chat, the way I would with a friend. It’s not “write this letter for me” or “do this or that.” No, it’s a chance for us to have a conversation about whatever topic I want. Many days, recently, at least, it’s been about quant...

tl;dr: Messari Governor is creating a new software category…and bringing Web3 one step closer to reality.
I really love software that integrates disparate systems into a unified interface.
Sprinklr does this for social media. Gtmhub does this for business systems of record.
So I got very excited when I saw the preview video for Messari Governor.
Messari built its reputation as the premier data provider on Web3 platforms.
What they have done with Governor is to take this one step further and are a providing a valuable service to citizens of Web3.
Today, if you want to participate in DAO governance, you have to go to a website that is managed by the project, where proposals are listed. When I’ve submitted proposals to Nexus Mutual and Decred, for example, this is where I had to go.
The discussion ABOUT the proposals can take place on any number of platforms…Telegram, Discord, Twitter, and others.
Then the VOTING can take place on a third platform, like Snapshot or Tally.
If you are trying to participate in multiple DAOs (and as a token holder, you are incentivized to do so), it can be difficult to find everything, sort everything, and prioritize.
What Messari Governor does is bring all of that into one place and then provide filtering capabilities (and direct voting connection since its integrated with your Web 3 wallet (e.g. MetaMask)) so any Web3/DAO-citizen can participate in many more votes, with a much more informed perspective.
I love it so much and it’s a brilliant solution to a legit problem that is only going to increase as the number of DAOs proliferates.
I’ve haven’t dug in yet to figure out yet what the revenue model is (maybe they are starting out freemium and will move to subscription) or they will get a small fee on votes, or maybe they are serving as a type of DAO politician/delegate and will be voting on behalf of people.
Not sure and I intend to explore.
Still, I think this is a big step up in terms of helping Web3 realize its vision.
@twobitidiot dude Messari Governor is freaking brilliant. DAO governance meta-SaaS category creation
