Purpose Struggle
Yesterday, I decided that my blogging career should come to an end. I was doing myself a disservice. I told myself that the goal of the posts was to dig deeper, peel back the layers, get down to the core. But by publishing online (or on-chain as the case may be), I was subconsciously writing for others, even if I told myself that I didn't care if others read. So, in an effort to be more authentic, I figured I'd stop publishing and start doing a private journal. Within 2 hours of that decision...

Value. Happiness.
I feel happy. It's fun, it's light, like a feather floating at the beginning of Forrest Gump. But, like the feather, it's not grounded. It can flitter and float away. Value is also ephemeral. We know it when we see it. We feel it, somewhere deep inside. Something connects to us, saying "yes, this is worth it." The "it" that it's worth is energy. Energy in the form of time, attention, money. The things of which our possession is limited. There's a reason why all the great traditions point to "...

Coffee with AI
Every day for the past month, I’ve had a coffee date with AI. I literally sit down, with a cup of coffee, with an appointment on my calendar that says “coffee with AI”. During that time, AI (I’ve used ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, and Venice) and I literally have a chat, the way I would with a friend. It’s not “write this letter for me” or “do this or that.” No, it’s a chance for us to have a conversation about whatever topic I want. Many days, recently, at least, it’s been about quant...

I am not the first person and I certainly won’t be the last to think about consciousness.
So, in some respect, there’s probably nothing new here in the grand scheme of things, but for me, it was a new.
And hey, it’s my blog, it’s a workshop and I don’t really care (do I?) if anybody reads at all.
There’s the brain, the physical entity, but then there’s the mind. The mind, it seems, is what connects each of us to something outside of ourselves.
While the brain is contained in the skull, the mind seems to exist both in and outside of the physical body.
The mind is an invisible connection to the global force of “consciousness” and is shared among all human and perhaps all sentient beings (do dogs and ants have ‘consciousness?)
So, consciousness exists as an invisible, yet extremely powerful force in the universe and, it would seem, that it’s existence is eternal, while our physical bodies are, obviously, not.
So, that would (could) mean that consciousness manifests itself in different physical ways at different times. My body is a physical manifestation of a portion of global conscious.
So is the body of every other person out there.
And, I guess, so is every other physical thing out there.
And non-physical thing.
This blog post is, obviously, digital, but it’s a manifestation of my consciousness, isn’t it.
So is the piano sitting across the room from me. At some point, someone consciously envisioned it. Someone else consciously built it, bought it, and then moved it in here.
I guess, now that I think about it (and it’s starting to hurt my head!), I suppose that everything that surrounds me is a manifestation of consciousness in one way or another.
And, perhaps, even the things I can’t see or feel or touch, they too would be there. So consciousness exists in one form or another even if it can’t be perceived everywhere.
Yeah, more on this another day. I’m afraid my head is about to explode.
