Thetan Arena is a multiplayer online battle arena game (MOBA) based on the blockchain and was released and developed by WolfFun in December 2021. It created a huge buzz with a whopping 6,000,000 players after just 15 days which set records in the NFT gaming industry. It is the first blockchain-based MOBA game that employs a battle royale concept in which players compete against one another utilizing specialized skills and powers. Built on the BSC Network and the Kardia Chain, this cross-chain game is playable on Android, iOS, and PC. According to its website, it is stated to be one of the most played crypto games with 24 million users.
Thetan Arena can also be seen as an eSport, as the game’s nature makes it competitive. Being skilled at the game is almost a must because if you win, you earn more. The game is very skill expressive as you fight other players either by eliminating them or earning points in other ways. Hosting a variety of game modes, such as Battle Royale, Superstar, Deathmatch, and Tower Defense, which have different objectives and ways to play. The game lets you queue with other players, allowing at most a 4-stack team, so you can dominate the arena with your friends.
Many blockchain-based games are currently gaining popularity. The majority of them use a card or turn-based play format, which is somewhat overused in both traditional and cryptocurrency gaming. Thetan Arena, the first play-to-earn game of its kind on the market, steps in to pave the way for the MOBA genre in this space.
You install Thetan Arena on your Android, iOs,or PC.
Sign up using your Google Account.
You are good to go!
Starting for the first time, you are put into the game’s tutorial. After that, it rewards you with heroes you get for free; Raidon which is a guaranteed hero, and 2 other random ones. You can play the PVP game modes such as; Battle Royale (solo and duo), Tower (defend your own tower while attacking the opposition), and Superstar (capture the flag) or you can start practicing your new heroes in the practice mode . You are only able to play Deathmatch for now, but after playing a few games you unlock the other game modes.
Thetan Coins (THC) are the primary medium of exchange and are obtained by participating in competitions and winning prizes based on your rank. The THC you have earned can then be traded or used to purchase Thetan boxes, skins, and heroes. Rarities for Thetan boxes include Common, Epic, and Legendary. Receiving Heroes or Skins with various rarities when you open these boxes.
For about $10, you can purchase a character if you want to make a small investment. In addition to the free initial heroes, numerous other characters are available for purchase. Each purchased character can earn extra coins for 10 games daily.
Additionally, because the purchased characters appear marginally superior to the free ones, progress will be slightly simpler. Other benefits of owning a bought hero include participating in special events and renting them out in the future. If you perform well in these special events, you may receive rewards, but again, this will require a lot of playtime.
Heroes obtained from boxes are premium and come in various rarities, including Common, Epic, and Legendary Heroes. Premium heroes are pretty much required now if you want to start earning, because a while ago you were able to earn THC in the ranked rewards even while using a non-premium character, but now it’s been removed. This makes it so that it’s better to just invest so you can have less of a hard time grinding THC.
Heroes also have different abilities depending on their rarity, the same hero could have different abilities with their higher rarity counterpart as well. These also increase a hero’s value, and could be sold at a higher price in the market.
Skins have various rarities as well such as Normal, Rare, and Mythical. These allow players to be able to earn more rewards from playing. The rarer the skin you have on, the better the rewards you get. The skins and these premium heroes can be traded or sold in the market, but the non-premium heroes you receive aren’t eligible for trading or selling.
Heroes essentially have different attributes such as, range, health, and speed, which varies depending on which class your hero is. The heroes that are given to you are of 3 different classes as well, giving you a chance to see which you prefer. Through playing, you start ranking up, and earning rewards.
The rewards are the following:
Power points: These are used to strengthen your heroes, and to buy skills.
Skills: These are the abilities you use while playing aside from the hero’s skill
Skin Cards: Cosmetics for your heroes, and increase the odds to get more rewards.
Playing the game is close to how many mobile MOBA games play. Brawl Stars and Pokemon Unite came to mind when I played the game for the first time. The game is fun and fast, with a small learning curve and a high-skill ceiling. Skill is a massive part of the game, allowing you to think about strategies, both micro and macro decisions, and teamwork. These aspects of the game are significant as they push you to improve and earn more.
Thetan Arena is similar to Pokemon Unite and Brawl Stars. A MOBA that offers a variety of game modes and a solid ranking system that rewards you for playing. It also doesn't allow F2P players to earn immediately, which is understandable. Still, this aspect could scare away newbie players because it's a heavy game to play as a F2P player. I think the game should be a must-play for MOBA players, or for those looking for a challenge. It’s a skill-based game so it’s for those who want to improve their skills, and earn money while doing so. Skills⚔️ = Bills 💵
Overall, Thetan Arena’s gameplay is slick and free of bugs though it takes some time to become familiar with each hero’s capabilities but the variety of heroes and their abilities enhances the fun and strategy. You may try out this game for free, and who knows? It might wind up becoming one of your new favorites!
