Every now and again I find myself wondering, “is this the way?”
Is this really what I’m supposed to be doing right now?
Is this really the next step forward?
When you’re involved in building something where there’s no real, ‘set-in-stone’, clear-cut path to your goal, it’s always difficult to distinguish whether or not you’re making the right move.
Fortunately, so long as the move you make isn’t entirely disastrous, you’ll live another day to figure it all out - and even if you do make a bad decision, hopefully there’s still enough chips left on the table to play another hand.
That’s what I think Life is really all about.
It’s not exactly super hard to succeed by conventional standards.
1) get a job
2) get a roof over your head
3) find a spouse who can tolerate you
Those are all presets.
It’s set in stone.
A clear path forward.
As long as those things are taken care of, you’re doing pretty well.
So mishandling a business decision isn’t all that bad.
But still, it’s hard to know for certain if the decisions you’re making while building something that hasn’t exactly been done before are the right decisions.
The doubt is always there, whispering tauntingly in your ear,
“Is this the way?”
