3DOS stands for “3D Operating System.”
3DOS Network is a decentralized, blockchain-based manufacturing network whose goal is to let anyone, anywhere turn a 3-D model into a physical part through a global pool of on-demand 3-D printers and other digital-manufacturing machines.
Key points
Purpose
– Provide the infrastructure for “manufacturing-as-a-service.”
– Let designers upload a CAD file, get instant quotes, and route the job to nearby or specialized printers.
– Let printer owners monetize idle capacity.
Blockchain layer
– Runs on Polygon (and formerly on Binance Smart Chain); uses its own utility token, 3DOS.
– Smart contracts handle quoting, escrow, quality-oracle reporting, and royalty splits.
Workflow
Designer uploads a 3-D file and selects material, quality, delivery time.
Network nodes (printer operators) bid on the job.
Job is assigned, produced, shipped; funds are released automatically when the delivery/quality oracle confirms success.
Token uses
Pay for prints
Stake to become an oracle or premium node
Reward mechanisms for uptime, quality, and data sharing
Current status (mid-2025)
– Alpha-mainnet is live; several hundred printers have onboarded, mostly in North America & EU.
– Mobile dApp (iOS/Android) and web marketplace are in open beta.
– Roadmap includes CNC, injection-molding, and metal-printing integrations later in 2025.
In short, 3DOS Network is trying to be the “Uber for manufacturing,” matching spare 3-D-printing capacity with people who need parts, all secured by smart contracts and paid for in the 3DOS token.
