They sit in your pews. They lead your small groups. They write your devotionals.
They smile when they say it: “We need to read the Bible in context.” What they mean: “We need to explain away what it clearly says.”
They nod thoughtfully: “We have to be culturally relevant.” What they mean: “We must surrender to the spirit of the age.”
They speak with grave concern: “Some views are simply outdated.” What they mean: “God was wrong.”
This isn’t theological evolution. This is spiritual surrender. And it’s the most dangerous threat to the modern church, because it wears a cross while serving Babylon.
THE ACADEMIC:
“Scholarship has moved beyond Paul’s first-century understanding...”
Translation: “My PhD matters more than divine revelation.”
THE ACTIVIST:
“How can we show love if we don’t affirm their identity?”
Translation: “I fear man’s approval more than God’s judgment.”
THE “PROGRESSIVE” PASTOR:
“We need to focus on the red letters, not those Old Testament passages...”
Translation: “I will edit God’s Word to make it more marketable.”
Their common trait? They take their marching orders from the culture, then find Scripture verses to justify their betrayal.
Let me make this absolutely clear:
The Word of God does not bend.
The commands of Christ do not expire.
The standards of holiness do not “update.”
The same Bible that called homosexuality an abomination in Leviticus calls it “contrary to sound doctrine” in 1 Timothy.
The same Jesus who said “the Scripture cannot be broken” in John 10:35 also said “until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter... will by any means disappear from the Law” in Matthew 5:18.
The Word stands.
Culture kneels.
End of discussion.
DECEPTION TACTIC #1: The “Cultural Lens” Argument
Their Claim: “We’re just understanding the Bible through our modern cultural context.”
The Reality: They’re filtering God’s eternal truth through Babylon’s temporary preferences.
The Truth: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)
DECEPTION TACTIC #2: The “Love” Redefinition
Their Claim: “We’re choosing love over judgment.”
The Reality: They’re choosing sentiment over truth.
The Truth: “This is love: that we walk in obedience to His commands.” (2 John 1:6)
DECEPTION TACTIC #3: The “Spirit vs. Letter” Distortion
Their Claim: “We follow the spirit of the law, not the letter.”
The Reality: They follow their feelings, not the Holy Spirit.
The Truth: The Holy Spirit who inspired Scripture never contradicts Scripture.
When you encounter these cultural captives, your response must be uncompromising:
Return to Authority:
“The Bible isn’t a suggestion box. It’s the Manufacturer’s manual. We don’t get to vote on its contents.”
Reject Emotional Blackmail:
“Your feelings don’t change God’s standards. Your discomfort doesn’t nullify divine command.”
Remember the Cost:
“Every prophet, apostle, and martyr died for believing this ‘outdated’ Book. Who are we to treat it as optional?”
In a world of shifting sand, the Remnant stands on Stone:
ON MARRIAGE:
“It’s one man, one woman, for life. Your feelings don’t change mathematics.”
ON GENDER:
“Male and female He created them. Biology isn’t bigotry.”
ON SIN:
“Go and sin no more. Affirmation isn’t love, redemption is.”
ON TRUTH:
“Your truth is irrelevant. THE Truth became flesh and dwelt among us.”
At the end of the day, there are only two positions:
POSITION A: GOD’S WORD JUDGES CULTURE
We bring every thought captive to Christ. We measure every idea against Scripture. We stand on what God said, regardless of popularity.
POSITION B: CULTURE JUDGES GOD’S WORD
We edit, reinterpret, and explain away whatever makes us uncomfortable. We follow the crowd while pretending to follow Christ.
There is no middle ground.
There is no “third way.”
You’re either building on the Rock or sinking with the culture.
The test is simple:
When God’s Word says one thing and the culture says another—who do you believe?
When your friends mock, your career suffers, your social standing crumbles—who do you obey?
When the cost of faithfulness feels too high—who do you serve?
The cultural captives have made their choice. They serve the god of Relevance. They worship at the altar of Acceptance.
But the Remnant knows:
It’s better to be outcast with Christ than celebrated with Babylon.
It’s better to be “outdated” with the eternal God than “progressive” with a dying world.
It’s better to stand on the Rock that never moves than float with the culture that never stops shifting.
The Word stands.
The choice is yours.
