What is a Network State | Part 2
WhyBasically, the world is turning into a shitstorm, of democracies turning into authoritarian regimes & authoritarian regimes turning into full big-brother mode on steroids. However, it’s more politely put explained in Bilaji’s theories as American Anarchy & Chinese Control.TLDR;US goes into civil warChina x10 the surveillance and control via their digital currency.Disaster Girl MemeSo what’s the main difference? The logical question is now, what’s the difference between a nation-state & a net...
Incentive Design | Part 1
Why are things designed in a certain way, basically so we can take the predetermined paths that benefit both the person & the final product. This includes how the paths are shown & followed usually decided by good & bad behaviour rewards. So, what drives people to act in certain ways, rewards; as humans we tend to run away from pain & towards what brings us pleasure, on most occasions anyway. Unless you’re a gamer in which case you’ll get crushed by the same boss for hours for a tiny release ...
What is a Network State | Part 1
Network states & crypto states … I first came across these terms a while ago whilst contributing at Status, I never gave it much thought until recently as tensions across the world escalate, privacy shrinks, authoritarianism increases and I’m slowly but surely noticing more & more that nation-states are constantly fighting to compete for the monopoly on violence. Network states & crypto states are the new or at least new to me buzzwords being thrown around in the blockchain/web3 space, howeve...
Rule 1 of writing, never proof read & hope for the best 🌟

The applications are endless and they’re not just theoretical, below I’ve listed a few areas.
This area is huge, especially since a lot of the focus has been on monetary policies & incentives across DEFI, so this covers international payments, capital markets, regulatory compliance & audits, and money laundering protection (via KYC; “Know Your Customer“) & Insurance, ect.
Some projects/companies working in this space include:
ABRA – A crypto wallet holds and tracks balances across different currencies.
Bank Hapoalim – A blockchain system for managing bank guarantees.
Barclays – New initiatives involving tracking financial transactions, compliance and combating fraud. They stated “Our belief …is that blockchain is a fundamental part of the new operating system for the planet.” … Is Barclays bullish?
Maersk – They’re planning a blockchain solution to streamlining marine insurance.
Aeternity – A platform creating smart contracts that activate when conditions made have been met, this allows a variety of automated payments.
Augur – A platform to create blockchain-based prediction markets for the trading of derivatives and other financial instruments in a decentralized ecosystem. You wanna bet on the MMA or NFL … If only I could bet against the housing market 🤔 #NFA

This area is probably one of the most obvious areas and so vast, it includes supply chain management, healthcare, real estate, media & energy, ect.
Some projects/companies working in this space include:
Provenance – Providing a record of transparency within supply chains.
SKUChain – Tracking and tracing of goods as they pass through a supply chain.
Blockverify – Focuses on anti-counterfeit, looking across industries including diamond, pharmaceuticals and luxury goods.
STORJ.io – Decentralised & encrypted cloud storage.
Guardtime – Creating “keyless” signature systems to secure health records.
REMME - Decentralized authentication system to replace logins and passwords.
Webjet – Track stock of empty hotel rooms & allows them to be traded.
Bitgive – Greater transparency to charity donations, clearer view of the project outcomes. Working with Save The Children, The Water Project & Medic Mobile ect.

Surprise, surprise …
Some projects/companies working in this space include:
South Korea – Samsung is creating blockchain solutions for the South Korean government which will be put to use in public safety and transport applications.
Democracy.earth – This is an open-source project aiming to enable the creation of democratically structured organizations, and potentially even states or nations, using blockchain tools.
Followmyvote.com – Allows the creation of secure, transparent voting systems, reducing opportunities for voter fraud and increasing turnout through improved accessibility to democracy.
El Salvador - Introduced BTC as legal tender & are onboarding a number of companies/franchises to accept BTC as payment.
CBDC’s - Nation states are looking to develop & launch their own digital currencies pegged to their fiat currency … Sounds like a dystopian future, mass control & mass surveyance on steroids IMO. However, this is from 2021, but you can see the number of countries involved in researching CBDC’s.

The list is pretty much endless as every day there are new projects launching with new use-cases, challenging existing projects to improve and it’s a cycle of improvement.
Here are a few lists of decentralised apps & projects if you want to browse & explore:
Well done, you made it! You are now a blockchain expert, officially ready to speak at conferences, publish groundbreaking papers & give NFA advice on social media!
If you’re interested to learn more at a very basic level, then check out my other ramblings ❤️
