"Psychological counseling is the method of counselors through psychological counseling, so that the mentally disturbed people have a correct understanding of themselves and the environment, in order to change their attitude and behavior, and have a good adaptation to social life. Mental disorders, mild, severe, belong to function, belong to the body. The scope of psychological counseling is mild and functional mental disorders. The purpose of psychological counseling is to correct the psychological imbalance, so that individuals have a clear understanding of themselves and the environment, change attitudes and behaviors, and have a good adaptation to social life." (Dictionary of Psychology, Ed. Zhu Zhixian, 1989.) From this definition, it is not difficult to see that psychological counseling is to use language or other non-drug means to change the psychological and behavioral problems of the help seekers. Different schools of psychological counseling techniques will interpret the client's thoughts and behaviors from different perspectives. For example, psychoanalysis emphasizes going into the unconscious and explaining the conflicts that exist there; Behaviorism focuses on strengthening positive behaviors and changing bad habits. Cognitive psychology focuses on the internal processing of external stimuli after they enter the brain. Humanism emphasizes that people's inner potential can be released through proper holding, so that people can change the original distorted ideas and views. For the adjustment and treatment of abnormal psychology, psychologists and psychiatrists in the psychological and physical aspects of a great deal of painstaking exploration. But with the development of modern science and technology, research has found that physiology and psychology are actually inseparable and interact with each other. TCM psychotherapy is based on its characteristics of both body and mind, which can make a difference in physical function conditioning and cognitive correction at the same time, thus providing new possibilities for the treatment of mental diseases. Psychoanalytic theory was founded by Freud. Freud is regarded as the father of psychological counseling. Freud summed up the theory and method of psychoanalysis in the treatment and research of hysteria. Freud divided personality structure into "id", "ego" and "superego". The "ID" is the basis of the personality structure and represents the fulfillment of our instinctive desires. The superego stands for conscience or moral force, which reminds us to meet the demands of society and family. The "self" is the mediator of the two, the learned psychological development that helps us satisfy our instinctive desires in accordance with the requirements of society. The balance and development of these three forces is the process of human psychological development. A person must maintain the balance of these three forces in order to maintain mental health, to live a smooth and happy life. Although the division of personality structure varies from school to school, the idea of maintaining a balance between the various parts of the personality structure is recognized by all schools. Another seminal set of Freud's concepts are the unconscious, the preconscious, and the conscious, which refer to mental structures. The subconscious mind is the deep structure of mental activity, which includes human instinct and primitive impulses, such as some needs of the ID. Consciousness is the surface structure of psychological activities. It is the part that people show to the outside world and themselves. There are many requirements of social culture, morality, law and so on. The preconsciousness is the part between the unconscious mind and the conscious mind, which acts as the police, preventing the subconscious impulse from entering the conscious mind at will. If too much need is repressed in the subconscious, then individuals are prone to psychological problems. Freud believed that almost all psychological problems are related to the unconscious mind, "when the unconscious mind is made conscious, the symptoms are reduced by half". Therefore, it is the main process of psychoanalytic therapy to analyze the unconscious mind in various ways. After Freud, psychoanalysis was developed by Horney, Adler and Fromm, etc. Psychoanalysis has a more diversified perspective on the analysis of the subconscious, which is no longer only interpreted from the sexual instinct and survival instinct, and provides a new paradigm for people to understand their own psychology and behavior.
