Disney focuses on metavers, Instagram integrates NFTs in publishing, Polygon strengthens its ecosystem, Creco.xyz presents the benefits of metadata stored on the blockchain. W3N? Let's go for this week's crypto, nft and web3 recap !
Disney accelerates into the web3

On July 13, 2022, the Walt Disney Company unveiled the list of the 6 projects selected by its Disney Accelerator program, which has supported the Epic Games team in the past.
The 2022 edition is dedicated to web3 and immersive technologies and the Polygon sidechain is among the projects selected this year. The team will therefore benefit from expert advice from Disney and will be followed by a dedicated executive mentor throughout the program.
Other web3 players include Flickplay, Lockeverse, Obsess, while Red 6 and Inworld are focusing on immersive experiences. The Disney Accelerator program will culminate in a demonstration day in Q3 2022 at Walt Disney Studios in California. In search of new storytelling inspirations, Disney is certainly counting on this promotion to make its entry into web3.
Metadata on-chain, what's in it for NFTs?
What if NFTs had DNA? While the idea may seem far-fetched, it could be one of the levers for the development of NFTs and, at the same time, remove one of the controversies in the sector: ownership. When I acquire an NFT, do I own a token, an image, commercial rights or its intellectual property?

Some projects, such as Creco.xyz, rely on the storage of metadata directly on the blockchain. On-chain metadata is a solution that allows the owner to own every attribute, creation and evolution of his NFT. In other words, in a web3 ecosystem that applies these principles the owner owns every attribute of his NFT, which he could trade, sell or store independently.
In the event that a project team generates a new 3D version of a profile picture (pfp) NFT, this would automatically be associated with the DNA's owner wallet. A solution to unlock the potential of the sector, generating the opportunity to create new smart contracts to read and interact with this metadata from a wallet or a liquidity pool. More information with the example of creco.xyz.
To the moon ? Polygon news

Polygon is off to a great start in July 2022 with a series of announcements and partnerships that have driven the $MATIC price up (+22% in one week). It was on the sidechain that Reddit decided to build its NFT marketplace, a few months after integrating a feature allowing the use of an NFT as a profile picture on the network.
Other major accounts have set their sights on Polygon, such as Coca-Cola, which has announced the release of a Pride Series collection promoting the LGBTQ+ community for Pride Month. The collection consists of 136 digital collectibles with a floor price of 1$ETH. Proceeds from the collection will be donated to OUT.
The Polygon ecosystem continues to grow as many players from different sectors choose this scaling solution to enter the web3 like Stripe or Meta.
