António Ferreira (1528-1569) was born in Lisbon and studied in Coimbra, where his teachers were some important figures of Portuguese and European humanism. He pursued a legal career and worked as a judge. He was a disciple of Sá de Miranda and stood out in elegy, epistles, odes and theater. The set of his poems was published in 1598 under the title “Poemas Lusitanos”. His best-known work is the “Tragedy of Inês de Castro” or “A Castro”, published in 1587.

Sculptural reading
Bronze piece, approximately three meters high and with three figures – Dona Inês de Castro raised by two Angels. The landscaped environment of the sculptural set aims to recreate the environment of a theater play, as it was conceived in the 16th century.
