Life and work
Camilo Pessanha, poet of a single work, Clepsidra, but one of the most representative and influential of the 20th century, was born in Coimbra, on September 7, 1867 – the year in which Baudelaire died, whose Flores do Mal, formed a source of inspiration for symbolists – and died in Macau, where he is buried, a victim of pulmonary tuberculosis and an opium addict, on March 1, 1926.
He completed primary education and high school courses in Lamego and Vila Pouca de Aguiar. He enrolled in Law at the University of Coimbra and published his first known poem: Lúbrica. Discover the charms of bohemian Coimbra in the company of Alberto Osório de Castro, Eugénio de Castro, António Nobre. It vaguely passes through Parnassianism, but it was Verlaine's reading that transformed him into the icon of symbolism in Portugal, a precursor to Pessoa's language.
In Coimbra he suffers a heartbreak. You will never get married. He will have a son, who will also die of pulmonary tuberculosis, as a result of his relationship with a Chinese governess.

Sculpture built from his exile, similar to Camões, but without a negative charge. The emphasis is given by the flowers from other places that surround it. There is also the door that precedes the sculptural enclosure and which signifies the entrance to the East. The concentric circles on the pavement prefigure meridians and parallels, a latitudinal and longitudinal route.
Poetic Reading
Poetic writing reveals the poet and the man who assimilated the Western culture to which he had access and which ended up transforming him into an opiate, a wise ascetic. Hence his representation reveals a posture fallen into introversion and dressed in white, with pants that he barely wears, it's skin intensifying his thinness.
