Opened in May 2003, the restaurant owes its name to a medieval tax, which was practiced in ports in the Christian world, and which consisted of a tribute to the King, of ten percent, of the loaded or unloaded value of goods and fish.
The restaurant maintains its original 15th century design, through the work of architect Paulo Fernandes and engineer Irene Baptista Fernandes, who achieved excellent harmony between the past and the present.
A game of contrasts between the rough textures of the stone and the smooth surfaces of the stucco and masonry, the cross and barrel vaults in raw brick with the acid-rusted metals, the lioz stone floor from Lourinhã, with the teak wood from the furniture.
The terrace is a privileged space in the building, offering a unique view over Barra do Tejo, from the bridge to the Bugio lighthouse.
