Forte de Crismina or Forte da Cresmina, is located at 38° 43′ 22″ N, 9° 28′ 42″ W, over the sea, north of Água Doce beach, in the parish and municipality of Cascais, District of Lisbon, in Portugal.
A small marine fortification, it was built to house a small garrison, with the aim of impeding the landing of any offensive force on that stretch of coast.
Currently between the Estrada Marginal and the sea, next to the EN 247, it is classified as a Property of Public Interest by Decree nº 95, of September 29, 1978.
Description
It is a fort of Baroque military architecture, with an irregular hexagonal plan, with only a few walls erected, on a single floor. In the frontispiece there is a door, slightly arched, superimposed by a tombstone.
