The blessing of the first stone took place on May 13, 1984, a very significant date for all those who make the pilgrimage to Cova da Iria, interceding with Our Lady of Fátima for her blessing and protection. And She heard the prayers of this Queijas community.

Once built, the dedication of this Church took place on September 28, 1986, presided over by D. António Ribeiro, Cardinal-Patriarch of Lisbon, on the eve of the Solemnity of São Miguel Archangel. The following year, on December 8, 1987 – Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, it was elevated to Parish, and Fr. José Correia Gonçalves appointed as parish priest.
In September 1999 Fr. António Augusto Teixeira de Sousa was chosen as the new parish priest of this young community and, on September 16, 2001, Fr. Alexandre Francisco Ferreira dos Santos came to replace him, assuming, since then, this noble mission of pastor of this Parish.

As devotees of the Archangel Saint Michael, let us collaborate with our Patron Saint, proclaiming above all with our lives, with our life witness, that only in God will our heart and our community find peace and serenity. This is the way of being salt, light and leaven, the vocation and mission that Our Lord has given us, our vocation and mission as baptized persons; the reason for our being Church, living community of São Miguel Arcanjo de Queijas.
