Life and work
José dos Santos Ferreira – Macau (1919/1993). Popularized as Adé, born and died in Macau.
He dedicated much of his life to promoting the Macanese dialect, being the author of a vast bibliography and performances, plays, operettas, etc., which he also rehearsed and directed. For many years he was a very active contributor to many radio programs.
A sportsman, he organized and directed championships and tournaments of different sports, he was the founder and leader of the Macau Hockey Club, the Macau Football Association and the Sports Council, later the Provincial Physical Education Council, which he presided over.
He collaborated with and was a leader in several other Sports Associations and Clubs. In 1979 he was awarded the degree of Knight of the Order of Infante D. Henrique by the President of the Portuguese Republic. In 1984, the Governor of Macau awarded him the Medal of Cultural Merit.
