Life and work
Adolfo Correia da Rocha (12 August 1907 – 17 January 1995), literary known as Miguel Torga, was born in S. Martinho de Anta (Sabrosa), district of Vila Real and died in Coimbra.

He uses the pseudonym Miguel Torga for the first time in the essay A Terceira Voz. The choice of pseudonym has its origins in a wild bush, common in Trás-os-Montes, and, in his militant Iberism that would accompany him throughout his life, in the acceptance of Miguel in honor of Cervantes and Unamuno. Graduated in Medicine, he published, in 1936, The Other Book of Job, the first book of poems signed under the seal of Miguel Torga.

Sculptural Reading
Sculpture
Carved in Lioz marble. Portrait of the angular face, with matching molars and forehead, with the same restrained and serious prominence. Medical coat, with a folded flap that points to the spirit of great solidarity with the poor. Never got rich.
Poetic Reading
Representation that alludes to the realism inherent in his poetic speech. Poet of nature, austerity and wild beauty of Trás-os-Montes, which is confused with the human dimension that his poetic writing conveys.
Sculptor Francisco Simões
Patron AKELER PORTUGAL, Investimentos Imobiliários, Lda.
