Orelhas, a decades-old classic, although housed in a middle-class dormitory in Queijas, remains a bastion of quality Portuguese food and is more sober and cheaper many times. The exhibitionist wine cellar (Barca Velha and Vale Meão highlighted), what dominates the room is the open kitchen, with a display of meats and good sea fish for roasting, and behind it Mr. Travassos and his white touch on his head.
It's difficult to choose between the main starters: warm cod pastries and an excellent fried farinheira.
The menu presents another difficulty, it rarely reaches the table and is chosen by the house but it includes delicacies such as roast ox tail, pork cheeks, stewed beef tongue with puree, chicken cabbage (obligatory) and, in its time, rice of hare.
For desserts, everything is recommended: rice pudding, farófias, an excellent mousse or nun's belly.
