The Paço do Barão da Fonte Bela, also referred to as Paço da Fonte Bela and Palácio da Fonte Bela, is located in the center of Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel, in the Azores.

History
Originally the residence of the family of Jacinto Inácio Rodrigues da Silveira, baron of Fonte Bela, and since 1921 it has operated as the Lyceum of Ponta Delgada, currently known as Escola Secundária Antero de Quental.
Endowed with great initiatives and linked to the orange business with Great Britain, it was with the profits from the same that the baron had the palace erected.
It is classified as a Property of Public Interest by Resolution No. 41/80, of 11 June.
Characteristics A work of great magnificence, its extensive façade presents neoclassical style marks as an innovation, evident, moreover, in the monumentality of its two porticoes that open onto patios that, at the ends of the frontage, present two bodies connected to each other by a recessed turret that would serve to watch over the arrival of ships transporting oranges. The two advanced bodies were externally joined by a terrace, the side of which faced the then Largo da Conceição or do Paço and was ornamented by an iron railing that still supports campanulated vases.
The main body of the Palace, facing west, has an iron porch supported by columns on the outside. The vestibule, on whose floor a laurel wreath can be seen drawn in basalt pavement, the staircase leading to the second floor and the raised plinth of the walls are covered and also paved with the same stone.
It should be noted that furniture was shipped from England to the Palace and that the iron railings came directly from Liverpool. However, since the palace began to serve as a high school, it has undergone several renovations and improvements in order to better adapt the building to its new functions.
