The Palácio Hotel do Buçaco, also called Palace Hotel do Buçaco and Palacete Hotel do Buçaco, is located in the National Forest of Buçaco, parish of Luso, municipality of Mealhada, district of Aveiro, in Portugal.

Considered as the last legacy of the kings of Portugal, it constitutes an architectural, botanical and landscape complex unique in Europe, where the Palace Hotel do Bussaco is currently installed, categorized as one of the most beautiful and historic hotels in the world.
The Palace Hotel do Buçaco has been classified as a National Monument since 2018.
History
The building was designed in the last quarter of the 19th century by the Italian architect Luigi Manini, scenographer for the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos. It also featured interventions, in different phases, by the architects Nicola Bigaglia, Manuel Joaquim Norte Júnior and José Alexandre Soares.
It has been classified as a Public Interest Property since 1996.

Characteristics
The building of the current hotel, in neo-Manueline style, is decorated with tile panels, frescoes and paintings alluding to the Epic of the Portuguese Discoveries, all signed by some of the great masters of the arts.
The structure displays profiles of the Belém Tower engraved in Ançã stone, motifs from the cloister of the Jerónimos Monastery, some arabesques and flourishes from the Convent of Christ, alleging a flowery Gothic style with romantic episodes in contrast to an austere monastic severity.
Inside, notable works of art by the great Portuguese masters of the time stand out, from the collection of tile panels by the master Jorge Colaço, evoking Os Lusíadas, the Autos by Gil Vicente and the Peninsular War, graceful sculptures by António Gonçalves and Costa Mota, paintings by João Vaz illustrating verses from the maritime epic by Luís Vaz de Camões, frescoes by António Ramalho and paintings by Carlos Reis. The furniture includes Portuguese, Indo-Portuguese and Chinese pieces, enhanced by sumptuous tapestries. Also noteworthy is the Moorish ceiling, the remarkable floor made with exotic woods and the royal gallery.
The gardens and surrounding park, the Convent of Santa Cruz do Buçaco, the Monastic Desert, the Sacromonte symbolizing Jerusalem and the passion of Christ, with its steps of the Cross, the Alta Cruz, the countless hermitages and chapels, constitute the widest architectural complex built by the Order of Discalced Carmelites; the Vale dos Fetos and its lakes, the Fonte Fria with the artificial waterfall, of strong Italian influence by the hand of Maria Pia, and the romantic viewpoints, are other attractions.
In addition, the Military Museum of Buçaco invites you to delve into the history of the Peninsular War, with emphasis on the Battle of Buçaco in which, in 1810, the Anglo-Portuguese troops led by the Duke of Wellington defeated the Napoleonic army.
