It's a Portuguese house, for sure. To taste real typical food, you have to visit Caçoila. The Oeiras restaurant offers typical dishes accompanied with good red wine. The house dates back to the 17th century and was completely restored to open up the space and maintain tradition.

Duck migas and cod turicada are some of the restaurant's specialties. António Macedos, responsible for the space, explains that Caçoila has a very homely and genuine way of preparing dishes. “We are careful to use the recipes in a traditional way, as it was done in the past.”
The name Caçoila refers to the beginning of the restaurant's history. At the time, one of the most prepared dishes was chanfana, typical of the central region of the country. The roast was cooked in a caçoila, which is a black clay pot, and placed in the oven. António jokes that, although chanfana is not part of the menu, if there is goat, they can still prepare the dish.
You can start the meal with fish from the garden accompanied by a jug of red wine from Bucelas. In addition to Caçoila's specialties, you can try the game alheira accompanied with greens, grilled breast and grilled picanha. For dessert, the suggestion is the farófias with cream milk.
