Family-run restaurant, founded in 1976, located in an old house decorated with maritime motifs. It consists of three rooms that are not enough for orders, as demand is high. With a simple and informal atmosphere, it offers high quality cuisine.
The room at A Marítima has the atmosphere of one of those old guesthouses where people speak quietly and where there is always a table with a couple of upright old men silently evaluating the people around them, people still with jobs and lunch hours and colleagues to curse . Memo full, but the noise is always respectful, as if the clientele were embarrassed by the old and nautical-military air of the decor, dozens of paintings with vessels of various order lining the walls.
On the menu it is common to have the famous sardines, jaquinzinhos or fried pout with bread soup; or an increasingly rare snack, marinated horse mackerel with boiled potatoes — the onion in thick, lush slices, vinegar on point, simple but exciting contrasts of fat and acidity.
In desserts, the waiter-husband stands out.
