ON–282: Aggregators: I particpated in the first-ever Onchain Data Hackathon with Ournetwork & Artemis. It was an exciting one-day chart-building contest in New York that brought together data analysts, builders, and researchers from across the industry. The goal was to uncover unique stories that only on-chain data could reveal. The event provided a platform for participants to showcase their skills in creating compelling charts, with the best submissions (mine) set to be published in a special edition for our subscribers. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow on-chain enthusiasts and explore the rich narratives hidden within blockchain data.

ON–277: Zooming Out: In analyzing ParaSwap for the OurNetwork newsletter, I focused on key metrics and trends related to this leading DeFi aggregator. Prediction Markets: In my analysis of prediction markets, I explored the fascinating intersection of finance and forecasting, examining how these markets function as powerful tools for aggregating information and predicting future events. My research focused on the theoretical underpinnings, including the efficient market hypothesis and the concept of prices as martingales. I was particularly intrigued by the wide range of applications, from elections to sporting performances, where prediction markets often outperformed traditional forecasting methods.

Near AI x HZN: Models and AI Payments: Focusing on the NEAR AI x HZN Incubation Program and its impact on AI models and payments. I discovered that NEAR is making significant strides in developing user-owned AI solutions, with a particular emphasis on foundational models and payment infrastructure. Two projects caught my attention: Pond and Nevermined. Pond is working on NEAR-native foundational AI models using Graph Neural Networks to analyze on-chain data and predict behaviors, which I believe will greatly enhance the capabilities of decentralized applications. Meanwhile, Nevermined is creating robust payment infrastructure for AI-commerce, which I see as crucial for facilitating transactions within the AI ecosystem.

Arweave’s AO Computer Has Big Potential: Analyzing of Arweave's AO Computer, I've come to recognize its immense potential to revolutionize decentralized computing. As I delved into its architecture, I was particularly impressed by AO's ability to support unlimited parallel processes without enforced limitations on size and form, while still maintaining network verifiability. The modular design caught my attention, allowing users to customize their computing environment by selecting preferred virtual machines, sequencing models, and security guarantees. I found the integration with Arweave's decentralized storage network to be a game-changer, effectively creating a global shared blockchain hard drive. This, combined with AO's actor-oriented approach, opens up possibilities for a wide range of applications, from complex smart contracts to autonomous agents and large-scale data processing.

DAO Contributor Challenges 2022: In the DAO contributor challenges, myself and a former colleague identified several key issues that are currently hindering the effectiveness of decentralized autonomous organizations. We found that one of the primary obstacles is the difficulty in finding and retaining skilled contributors, as many tend to jump between DAOs, making long-term commitment a challenge. Additionally, I noticed that even when talent is available, activating potential community members to actually contribute is often problematic due to confusion about processes and uncertainty about compensation. In my research, I also observed that maintaining consistency in culture and values across a decentralized organization is a significant hurdle, impacting everything from internal processes to marketing efforts. Furthermore, I discovered that the lack of standardized processes and clear documentation often leads to inefficiencies and inconsistent experiences for both contributors and clients. Lastly, I noted that legal uncertainties surrounding DAOs, particularly regarding entity structure and token issuance, continue to pose challenges for many organizations in this space. These insights have led me to believe that addressing these core issues will be crucial for the future success and scalability of DAOs.
