A neuron doesn’t realize it’s a neuron. I heard this quote from today’s Elon Musk tweet, and I would like to discuss it. The neuron is simply not smart enough to understand its being. It just functions according to the physics laws and functions well. It doesn’t have any thoughts about his life, and it doesn’t work from 9 to 5.
The main reason why I’m telling you this is because I want you to compare your life to a neuron. Of course, you are much more complex than a small neuron. You’ve got brains; you’ve got minds; you’ve got souls. Do you?
That’s the main question. Do you really have more complexity and some sort of identity? Aren’t you just a neuron who is living without understanding?
As we know, a neuron doesn't know that it’s a neuron. What if someone just doesn’t want you to know? For someone, you can be as simple as a neuron, and he doesn't give a damn about what you’re thinking or what you’re doing.
You can understand my words in many ways. We can live in a simulation created by some sort of hyper-intelligent being, and our universe is just a program that runs on their super-computers. That’s one of the most interesting parts of the sci-fi industry. I bet many of you have watched The Matrix and how Neo is leaving this simulation and realizing what was hidden from him. That’s hard to realize, and when you do, you start to feel uncomfortable.
Or you can think of it another way. What if our current global economy and society just want you to be a neuron? They don’t want you to realize what you’re doing. Someone probably wants you to stay in the same place for your whole life and give you the illusion of progress.
In this scenario, you’re living in the real world, where someone else sets the rules. It can be the president, Mark Zuckerberg, the Rockefellers, the creator of Bitcoin, or anyone else. It doesn't have to be one person; it can be all of them combined.
I can give you another example. All of you have played video games at least once and understand the basic principles of most of them. You’re playing with your main character, who has his own personality, history, and even feelings.
And sometimes, after playing for a little bit, you start noticing that there’s something wrong. Maybe you’ve noticed several bugs that have ruined your gameplay, or you understand that the game isn’t very realistic. However, the main character doesn't understand anything.
In other words, only the guy who runs the world can understand its bugs and mistakes. Only the guy who created the simulation can see some problems in it. And only the guy who rules the world can make some changes to it.
Why wouldn’t you be that guy? Why wouldn’t you be the greatest inventor of our century? Why wouldn’t you be the one who can help other people and make their lives much easier? Everything that I’m saying to you should make you think about your life and the world itself. Maybe you should break down the basic concepts, about which we’ll talk a little bit later!
Is there any difference between the first type of simulation and the second one? In the first one, your world and your universe were created by someone else. And in the second example, it’s just a world in which most of you don’t understand what you’re doing.
There are no differences. In both of these simulations, you’re living without really thinking or understanding. Just doing something that the script tells you to do isn’t living at all. It doesn’t matter if you’re part of a program or just live by someone else's rules; the output is the same.
Every system has its own rules; who said that you must follow them? And I’m talking about our everyday rules, such as “don’t kill," “don’t rob," and so on. These rules are very helpful and make our lives possible without any fears.
But there are a bunch of other rules that are hilarious. For instance, we can look at the IRS and all the global economics that tell you to pay taxes. You can say that paying taxes helps the country function well. It’s mostly not true. We can look at some countries, such as Dubai and Qatar. They don’t have any taxes, but these are some of the most civilized cities and countries in the world.
Taxes are just another way to control people. Taxes are not made because the government needs your money; they're made because the government wants to know what you’re doing and have an impact on it.
If the IRS notices that you have another business and don’t pay any taxes on it, they will just arrest you. If you’re not using some lifehacks for the rich, such as opening a business in another country, investing in art, and so on, all these things help you avoid taxes; however, most people can’t use these methods. Average workers just don’t have enough money to invest in art without any fear of losing this money.
Every system also has some principles. The most basic ones are what most of our parents are telling us. Finish school, graduate from university, find a job, and retire at 65. I can’t hear all this bullsh*t anymore and don’t want you to hear it as well.
It just doesn’t work. It probably worked several decades ago, but not now. Right now, we need people who can be creative and find solutions for the biggest problems of our century. These principles are just another way for the government to make a simulation.
Explain your philosophy to a large group of people and show them possible achievements. This is how they recruit most of you. But, do you really need it? Of course not. And you don’t have to become an entrepreneur as well.
Not everyone will be wealthy, and not everyone will be a space engineer. Everyone has their own path, and everyone must choose it themselves. Don’t listen to anybody, not even me. The main thing is that you need to choose it yourself and enjoy it.
Simulation is not always a bad thing. It doesn’t have to be a prison. It can be a utopia that functions well, where everyone lives their happiest lives. But to achieve this statement, we need to understand some essential concepts.
If you’ve read a book called “Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley, then you probably understand what I’ll talk about now. The brave new world is a really complex example of a successful utopia or anti-utopia. Each of you can look at the world described there from both sides.
In a nutshell, in this world, everyone works for the future of society; there are no criminals, and everyone feels happy every time. Even if they don’t, there’s a drug called Soma that immediately makes you happy for a long period of time.
None of them understands who is ruining the world, and there’s a caste system. Everyone is born in test tubes, which increases the population. People in one caste think that they’re the most useful for society, and people from other castes think absolutely the same. You can have unlimited sex in this world with almost anyone you want and do whatever you want. Sounds like a great utopia, however, take a look from another side.
Everyone is almost the same. If you belong to one caste, you can’t quit it. If you have different thoughts from others, everyone will blame you. There’s no conception of individuality; you just need to work and have a simple life for a better future. Something similar to our world, isn’t it?
I won’t tell you everything about this book; you better read it yourself. But anyway, you should consider some thoughts from it and try to understand as much as possible. If you don’t want to quit the matrix, you’ll probably stay at the same level for your whole life and live in the illusion. But if you quit it, you will probably not be happy.
After reading this article, I want all of you guys to think a little bit about what you’re currently doing and how to actually start producing something. A society that just consumes without producing is a bad society. I don’t want you to feel depressed by what you’ve just heard; this article should push you to accomplish even more amazing goals and make this world great again!
It’s really a huge topic, and I can discuss it for hours. If you liked this article and want to see more of my “thoughts expressed," then leave a clap and follow me! Also, if you disagree with something that I’ve just said, you can always leave a comment and we can discuss it more closely!
