I was tempted to say, “I have a love hate relationship with New Year’s resolutions,” before realizing that I have a love/hate relationship with love-hate-relationships. The problem, I suspect, is that I struggle with their punctuation. Part of me wants to slash them in two: love/hate relationship. But then that seems too violent.
