Web3 native alternatives to centralized platforms like Twitter offer a range of benefits, including greater control over data, increased transparency and accountability, and improved privacy and security.

One major advantage is that they allow users to own and control their own data. When you use a centralized platform like Twitter, you are essentially handing over your data to the company, which can then use it for their own purposes or even sell it to third parties.
In contrast, web3 native alternatives use blockchain technology to mint and publish entries directly to the blockchain, which is a decentralized ledger that is maintained by a network of users rather than a single company. This means that users retain control over their own data, and can decide how it is used and who has access to it.
Another benefit of web3 native alternatives is that they offer greater transparency and accountability. Because the entries are stored on the blockchain, they are immutable and cannot be altered or deleted by anyone, including the company that created the platform. This ensures that users have a permanent record of their entries without being forced to sanitize language and without being shadow-banned for unspecified actions, a pain-point (among many) Twitter users.
Integrating Twitter into our web3 ecosystem would provide the best of both worlds.
On web3 native social media platforms, the option for followers to collect posts you make offers several benefits. One key advantage is that it allows for even greater decentralization of content creation and curation. Instead of relying on a centralized platform to be the only place content is visible and promoted, followers can actively curate and collect posts that are meaningful to them, building their own libraries based on shared interests and values.
Rather than relying on a single platform or a handful of influencers to dictate what is popular or important, followers can individually decide which posts are most valuable. This can lead to greater appreciation for our more thoughtful or high value short form posts.
Another benefit of followers being able to collect posts is that it can create opportunities for monetization and collaboration. For example, followers may be willing to contribute a bit of Ethereum to the author for especially collectible content or insights, or to support creators directly through tips or donations. By allowing followers to collect and curate posts, creators can build stronger relationships with their audiences, and explore new revenue streams beyond traditional advertising.
We discuss existing web3 native platforms and L2 protocols that integrate with Twitter, also Twitter’s announcements that their API will be changing from free to paid, breaking many web2 integrations, and how it’s already affecting some publishers whose archives are now peppered with broken links where Twitter posts used to be cozily embedded.
