I’ve never really been much of a content creator (podcaster, blogger, vlogger...) because I’m very critical over myself. I’ll romanticize a clever idea, but then I overthink it and let it slip away. I’ve struggled to find an outlet to express myself without questioning whether it’s worth sharing. Every time I try, I’m haunted by this voice: “The world doesn’t need another half-baked idea, no matter how well it’s dressed up.”
But this past week, I stepped out of my comfort zone. I stumbled into content making, starting with street interviews.
One of them I posted earlier in the week actually went viral on X. Completely unexpected. A new friend of mine confessed how the content made him feel: "when I first saw the title, I felt so insecure, so I instantly scrolled past it. But then it stayed on the back of my head, and I kept getting that tingly urge to understand what other people (women) think of my in-group. That's exactly what drew me back to watch it. I couldn't resist!" To me, that was an interesting reaction to hear.
Later in the week, out of personal curiosity, I filmed my experience paying with USDC at a Base Cafe. There was no specific goal—I just wanted to share my experience, whether good or bad, so people who haven’t had access to experience like this could stay informed and curious. After I posted it, I was struck by the mixed reactions, both positive and negative. But what really hit me was the fact that people cared enough to engage.
And where there’s care, there’s potential for improvement.
The success from these videos taught me two things:
People like the way I tell stories
My voice is valued
Every content creator, consciously or not, is making content for both others and themselves. For me, a crypto rookie, there’s no better way to learn about the space than by creating content around it. Content isn’t just an endgame—what truly matters, what’s actually enlightening, is the feedback I get from the community. By observing behaviors of content consumption, I’m learning more about the audience I’m creating for. These reactions nourish me. Collecting feedback is almost a science, expressed through art (short-form videos counts, too!). And content creation is a weapon, capable of reshaping how people approach and reflect on their own doubts.
I’ve heard about creator burnout—getting too caught up in chasing KPIs until the content no longer reflects their true opinions or intentions. Fortunately, I don’t carry that burden. I have the autonomy to craft my own world, free from the typical pressure to create content that panders to what’s popular.
And now, I’m starting to believe I can do even more with this. Starting with smaller communities, and eventually, I just might reach the world.
