You can now make your ChatGPT memory portable with Memory Vaults and MCP. LLMs are getting to know us... incredibly well. The more context we provide them, the more I become afraid of being dependent on a single provider due to my memory being locked in. With Memory Vaults that's no longer going to be cause for concern.
Today you can export your conversations.json, plug it into the Memory MCP on your desktop, and use your chatGPT history with other, MCP compatible LLM services, like Claude or Cursor. Your AI history moves with you and stays useful.
Everything's encrypted end-to-end. Encryption happens in the browser using your own key pair. No one else can see it. Not us, not the apps. Just you.
For an video explainer on how it works and how you can use it, see below:
Hope to see you try it out. If you have any questions, comments, or ideas, or would like to explore using the Memory API please get in touch with me via Twitter DM.
Next week we will be at the Coinbase TBA event in LA on July 16th. Get in touch if you will be too, I'd love to connect IRL.
Our next update will be on $MEM, Memory Protocol's native token. Excited to share!
