Azuki NFT Creator Admits to Abandoning Past Projects, Is This The End For Azuki?
Zagabond on Twitter chronicled his NFT history in a blog post that explained his involvement with the projects Cryptophunks, Cryptozunks, and Tendies. All of these NFT projects were abandoned by their founding team.
The NFT community unearthed the details of Zagabond’s “experiments,” In August of last year, @PaulOx tweeted that Zunk programmers had earned more than $2 million by impersonating women. another article on how there was no handover when the Phunk coders left yet the founders made around 300 ETH.
Zagabond credits Azuki’s success to learning from the other project’s failure. he also emphasized that in the formative times, it becomes important that the community encourages creators to experiment and innovate. Additionally, each experiment comes with key learnings.

The announcement was met with a lot of backlash in the NFT community. Within Zagabond’s post being published, the Azuki collection’s floor price declined from roughly 19 ETH to about 9 ETH. The NFT community accused him of “rug pulling.”
While the Azuki team seemingly had a spotless image previously, Many people would’ve said Azuki creators were among the best positioned to give Yuga Labs and BAYC a run for their money in the years ahead.
Over the last few weeks, Azuki devs have been busy with the phased launch of Beanz, Azuki’s companion collection.
The FUD created by Zagabond’s announcement could well undermine those efforts, their reputation took its first big hit. spooking holders who have been promised airdrops and experiences, among other perks.
