In the process of user growth, with a deeper understanding of LTV, I began to think, what is the LTV of my own life? If everyone wanted one thing in life, what would it be? I think it's happiness. Everyone may have different goals and paths in life at different stages, but I think the pursuit of happiness should be what we all aspire to. Probably no one would say they don't want to be happy. I'm using the word "happiness" here, not "happiness". Because I think there is no objective standard of happiness, happiness in everyone's eyes is not the same, is a particularly subjective feeling, so happiness will be more appropriate. If what we pursue is happiness, it is similar to the LTV of users. Can we use LTH (life time happiness) to express our happiness in our lifetime? Just as we want to maximize our users' LTV, should our life goal be to maximize our own LTH? As Figure 8-1 shows, from the time we are born, or more accurately from the time we become self-aware, it is possible that every day we are more or less happy. If the curve of happiness at each moment can be expressed as a function f (x), then the area S under the curve between our birth and our death, LTH, is the cumulative happiness of our lifetime. In this case, LTH won't be very large, so to maximize LTH, you have to maximize happiness at these points. In addition to focusing on happiness at one point in time, we should also focus on improving our personal efficacy, that is, focusing on the ability to increase our happiness. For example, education, if we can receive better education or more skills training, so that we can become more capable, then the subsequent happiness is likely to be higher than before. Or doing something that makes us healthier and increases the length of our lives, like exercise, which not only makes us feel happy, but also increases the length of time we feel happy. As a counterpoint to improving productivity, we should firmly resist activities that bring short-term happiness but are detrimental to the long term. To take an extreme example, while drug use may be very high and give you a sense of well-being at the time, that feeling will fade quickly and the resulting emptiness will reduce your happiness to zero. Even during drug addictions, not only may your happiness be negative, but the length of your life you experience happiness is shortened. So, this is a typical LTH downsizing thing, and we should avoid this kind of thing. As I emphasized earlier, happiness is a subjective feeling. So if we can change our thoughts or perspective, we can improve our happiness even more, given the same external conditions. I told my team a scenario that sounds like chicken soup, but it's actually something I've experienced a lot: Sometimes, when I take a walk after lunch, or when I walk in the park or community on weekends, I feel the sunshine on my face, the breeze blowing, inhale the fresh air, and the worry is exhaled out of my body. When I think of everything I have, I can inexplicably feel a very strong sense of happiness. I wasn't very successful by any stretch of the imagination, but I can't tell you how satisfying it is to take a walk and feel the interaction between my environment and my senses, to think that I have a wife that I love and love, naughty kids, and a job that I love. I later learned that this is supposed to be a state of mindfulness. As I emphasized earlier, happiness is a subjective feeling. So if we can change our thoughts or perspective, we can improve our happiness even more, given the same external conditions. I told my team a scenario that sounds like chicken soup, but it's actually something I've experienced a lot: Sometimes, when I take a walk after lunch, or when I walk in the park or community on weekends, I feel the sunshine on my face, the breeze blowing, inhale the fresh air, and the worry is exhaled out of my body. When I think of everything I have, I can inexplicably feel a very strong sense of happiness. I wasn't very successful by any stretch of the imagination, but I can't tell you how satisfying it is to take a walk and feel the interaction between my environment and my senses, to think that I have a wife that I love and love, naughty kids, and a job that I love.
