If you've heard about QRcoin.fun in the Farcaster ecosystem, the information you found was probably a little confusing. Unlike a traditional platform, QRcoin is not a website full of menus and features. It is, in essence, a bold experiment in on-chain advertising that works through a single, permanent QR code.

Essentially, QRcoin.fun is a project that uses a single immutable QR code as its main advertising asset. This QR code has the ability to change its link destination (the URL it redirects to) every 24 hours. Control over this destination does not belong to a central company, but is auctioned daily to the highest bidder.
The Auction System:
Purpose: The main objective is to sell “advertising space” and attention to projects or individuals in a decentralized manner. The auction creates a market pricing system that values public attention.
Mechanics: An auction is held every day on the Base blockchain (a layer 2 of Ethereum). Participants bid with USDC (a stablecoin).
Key Rules: To participate, simply send your bid to the QRcoin smart contract address. If you are outbid, your USDC is automatically returned to you. The highest bid at the end of the day wins the right to control the QR's destination URL for the next 24 hours.
Objective: The winning individual or project uses their time to drive traffic from the Farcaster community and the Base chain to their own website, mini app, channel, or project.
Unlike other projects, earning rewards on QRcoin.fun is not about “mining” or “farming,” but rather actively participating in the ecosystem. This model is known as Discover-to-Earn (or D2E).
Mechanism: Every day, when the QR code is updated with a new link, users who scan it and visit the auction winner's destination are rewarded with a small amount of $QR tokens.
$QR Tokens: It is important to note that the QR token is a real cryptocurrency on the Base blockchain, not just points within a game. Its value fluctuates based on demand and activity within the ecosystem.
Value and Utility: Currently, $QR tokens are primarily used for speculation and participation within the QRcoin.fun ecosystem. There is no official conversion to other currencies or confirmed airdrops.
Developers: The project is an “on-chain experiment,” and as such, it does not have a formally “public” team with LinkedIn profiles. However, within the Farcaster community, a developer named “@jake” has been identified as the mastermind behind this successful project, which has attracted the attention of many other users due to its success in drawing audiences and crowds to the auction winners.
Reputation: The platform has an excellent reputation in the Farcaster ecosystem and the Web3 community that comprises it. QRcoin.fun is seen as an interesting and innovative model. It is one of the first proposals to use a decentralized mechanism to monetize “user attention,” which is a highly valued concept. All the users I have interacted with about this have only had good things to say and highly recommend it, as it has brought significant profits to those who have known how to take advantage of how it works.
QRcoin.fun is a unique platform that represents an innovative twist on Web3 advertising. By decentralizing control of a key advertising asset (a QR code) and gamifying the process with a “Discover-to-Earn” model, it has created an fascinating niche for those looking to experiment with the limits of on-chain advertising. It is a community-driven project, and its value is directly linked to the attention it manages to generate.

just earned my daily $QR reward for checking out today's winner @qrcoindotfun Another day and a new winner. If you want to learn how QR and chain advertising work, you should read this post I wrote in paragraph in my new section "Farcaster Mini Apps." You will find the link below in the following comment.
Here is the post https://paragraph.com/@miniapps-on-farcaster/qrcoinfun-the-decentralized-advertising-experiment-on-the-base-chain
I have created a new blog on @paragraph with the intention of segmenting my content into several parts so as not to combine them, a new feature they added that I think is pretty cool. The name of my new blog is: "Farcaster Mini Apps," focused on explaining in detail the different mini apps in the ecosystem. In this first edition, I have created a detailed post on how the @qrcoindotfun project created by @jake works, detailing its operation and the rest of the details that everyone should know to get chain advertising. https://paragraph.com/@miniapps-on-farcaster/qrcoinfun-the-decentralized-advertising-experiment-on-the-base-chain?referrer=0x2e1b03a953CE8F6294443F02Ad9a87a6dac94958
this is fantastic, thank you for writing it
You're welcome, it's a great app. When I can auction, I'll definitely do it to get chain publicity. The best, without a doubt 🫡🙌
great write-up. imo @qrcoindotfun end-game shall be to be THE QR code on @baseapp.base.eth landing page directing top funnel eye balls to the winning mini app for the next 24h. not sure how this deal could constructed but sure @jake will find a way to get this decentralized onchain ad experiment to be on there...
This would be fantastic. Imagine the reach it would have, far beyond what it already has. I love this idea. I hope it comes to fruition. Thank you very much 🫡
