Moss is a small plant that grows on the ground, rocks, trees and other surfaces. Moss does not have roots, stems and leaves like other plants, but instead has thin branches called stalks. Moss can be green, yellow, brown or red, and can grow in many different conditions, including moist forests, swamps, mountain slopes and even in cities on the roofs of buildings.
